The Windermere Club

About
Located just outside of Columbia, The Windermere Club sits along the banks of the lake that it takes its name from. Pete Dye designed the golf course, crafting a number of memorable holes. It's his only design in the Midlands. No two holes are alike on this challenging layout, so expect to use every club in your bag. The golf course offers a variety of risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to both low and high handicappers. There are also five, and sometimes six, tee boxes on every hole, making the golf course even more appealing for any skill level. The fairways are generous but lined with mature hardwoods and there are strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Golfers at The Windemere Club will also encounter subtle but tricky elevation changes and several lakes and ponds.

A Stand Out
Best inward stretch of holes in the Columbia, with stand outs including the deepest bunker I've ever been in on #10, a driveable par 4 on #14, and a closing stretch of holes playing toward, and alongside,a lake. Also worth mentioning is #9, a par 3 with a 180 yard do-or-die carry over a pond. For those looking to experience a Pete Dye design without the resort costs, Windermere is a perfect outing.
Poor course conditions for money
I was extremely disappointed in condition of this course. Bunkers unplayable all of them had standing water t he supposed cart path was nothing but sand. For a Hot deal at 35 i would expect more. Poor upkeep and worse pace of play.. only positive club house guys were awaesome and greens were in above average conditions. But for money this course is way overpriced
Cart died halfway through the round and wild of our staff is rude.
Cart died halfway through the round and wild of our staff is rude. Had to go looking for someone for a while to swap out a cart that died and had to be pushed back to the clubhouse. They were having some kind of private event and couldn’t be bothered to assist the people who paid to play golf..
Windermere Return to prominence
Course is in great condition. Great facility. Great layout. Beautiful community. Fred has done a great job in returning Windermere to its rightful place and status as a top golf community in area.
Give it a try!
Never played before but we enjoyed the round. Greens were in great shape, a little slow. Overall, conditions were good though tee boxes could use some attention along with cart paths. Very friendly
Pro shop check in.
Slow greens
Greens were recently punched, and extremely slow!
Lots of thin lies around the greens.
Overall the course still needs work!
Course is improving
I played the course last year the greens were fuzzy the tee boxes were in decent shape .the fairways played ok if you were in good position the maintenance seemed to be heading the right direction for the last time I played
Excellent track and Value!
Enjotmyed the unique course layout. Pretty tough course and excellent scenery. Looking forward to coming back!
The course was very neglected. Greens were moderate - fairways had little turf - lots of bare patches.
Disappointed to pay $75 each - on arrival at the club the green fee for a walk-up was $49.
Classic Dye layout with poor conditions
The course gives you the classic Dye layout and features. But the conditions were well below what we played on other area courses during a recent golf trip to Columbia. The practice facilities are pretty poor, too. Overall, if you love Pete Dye and can overlook the poor course conditions, you’ll have fun.
When in Columbia, SC...
Made a trek down South to escape the Midwest weather and catch a practice round of the Masters. Nice course, great layout, had rained quite a bit so not fair to comment on the upkeep of the course. Would definitely play if back in SC.
