Sun Mountain at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort

About
At the Sun Mountain course at the Las Vegas Paiute Resort, Pete Dye uses the rolling terrain in an almost links-style design.
Straying from fairways can put you in the fescue grass, but this isn't the ball-gobbling fescue you'd expect from Dye. If anything Sun Mountain plays easier than Snow Mountain. The 140 slope rating from the back tees might even seem a little inflated when you're out on the course.
Which isn't to say it's a complete pushover. It's still a Dye after all. It still has bunkers you'll remember. Or lose sleep over.
Take the green-guarding bunker on the 219-yard par-3 14th. It is so steep in front that you almost have to hit the ball straight up in the air to get it out successfully. Some hackers become so unnerved by this bunker that they hit out backward, going back toward the fairway to escape. Yes, even at his kindler, gentler best, Pete Dye can make golfers retreat on a course.
Sun does not hit you with much water, but it makes good use of the vast Paiute landscape. There are huge desert areas between the holes, giving each hole a sense of isolation. You're not going to be observing someone's shank on a parallel fairway.

One of the best courses in Las Vegas
If you are a golfer, this facility, with it’s 3 - three, quality courses, each 18 holes, are worth playing, and it does not really matter which one you play.
Sun, which I played this time, like it’s sibling Snow, get’s less attention then Wolf.
There’s not an overwhelming good reason not to play Sun or Snow rather then the always busy Wolf.
Conditions are excellent, and with the somewhat warmer winter weather we have so far had in December 2017, versus December 2016, the playing conditions are superb.
Wind & Weather can change, so be prepared for the fact that this is an outdoors activity, at a higher elevation than the downtown Las Vegas Strip, and you will enjoy.
Handy suggestion: Download the app “Tap to Tee” beforehand, as the beverage cart uses this for ordering, and it will speed up beverage (and food) deliveries quite a bit.
Cigar smokers: Stop at the Chevron gas station just off the I-15 freeway, before the clubhouse, and get your cigars there, they are cheaper there, as you are on tribal land, and the Native American tribe has a Smoke Shop inside this Chevron gas station.
Way to windy
Very well maintained and great layout, tees and fairways were in great shape greens were good but needed to be rolled, the hotdog was way to expensive
Fantastic
This course is fantastic. Not as challenging as Wolf but incredible non the less. From the Tee box to the cup all the holes are well maintained. Probably the best in Vegas. Play this course. It’s a Vegas must as are the other 2 here.
Beautiful Fairways and Scenery
Excellent place to golf and enjoy being near the mountains. The fairways are like being on carpet, wonderful! The property was well kept and the golfers we ran into were very nice!
Don’t miss out
First time ever playing this fabulous Gem.....
It’s absolutely one of the best tracks ever!!!!
Beautiful surroundings and the course is well maintained..The grass almost looks like synthetic Turf.
Worth the drive
Although this course is quite a drive from Vegas - about 45 minutes it is worth the trip. The course is always in great conditions as they have access to a lot of water. Elevation being a 3000 ft usually a few degrees cooler than the city. Pace of play has always been great. Not sure if it is the quality of the golfers or their tee time bookings but never seem to wait. We were 3 hours and 45 minutes doing our round. as compared to the next day of a 5 hour round at another facility
Paiute exceeds expectations
I'm a Clark Co. resident. Most of my usual courses are in the stages of overseeding, so I traveled the 50 minutes north to play Paiute Sun Mountain, one of three courses there. There's nothing I could possible complain about. Very nice practice facility, beautiful course layout in impeccable condition, played in 3 and one half hours. Friendly staff. Beverage carts on the course Nice clubhouse and restaurant with good food. I'll be back. If I lived closer, I'd make this my home course
Sun, Snow and Mountain
Amazing facility! The 19th hole needs a few improvements. PGA championship was on but no volume, the monitors are tiny and few. For a facility of this caliber the 19 hole should be up to the standards of the 3 amazing courses. Beautiful patio but no monitors, misters and the staff won’t serve you. I’m all about relaxing after a round of golf with my buddies in a setting that’s better than my living room. Take it to the next level and make golfers want to stay for more than one cocktail. I played 3 days that weekend and will go back! It’s about 10f cooler than the Vegas valley.
Great course (Snow)
Very nice course/ excellent in every way.
Service was excellent as well...in spite of Corona virus / state mandates in place.
Highly recommend

Solid Layout
Sun Mountain is the lesser of the three courses at Paiute but still a solid track.
Awesome course
Awesome golf complex with quality service and amenities. My group will be back again on our next visit to Vegas.
