Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run

Starter send us out as a twosome behind 2 glacially slow foursomes, waited on EVERY HOLE! Advised starter at the turn, no action taken. Otherwise a fun track in much better shape than 2 weeks ago, greens were excellent. Good value for the $$$

Thought I would be impressed but pace of play was terrible, no food really to speak of (Sunday) and the beer was way over priced.

The course was in excellent condition, especially at this time of year. Nice layout.

The pace of play was 20 minutes a hole. We were teamed with another twosome and they gave up a hole before us. We waited one more hole and gave up.on hole 11. We had a late tee time so when we called the clubhouse for a ranger they were gone. Part of a foursome in front of us also quit.. We canceled our round on this course for the next day. There were three foursomes on the tee box at one time for several holes. It’s too bad because the course was in decent condition and the twosome we were with were enjoyable. This was hardly worth the money. We had to leave for home in Chicago area so I didn’t get chance to pursue a partial credit.

Golden Bear is in great shape and is great value for money on HHI especially in March. Greens were terrific. The odd tee box was sparse. The only real criticism was pace of play...a mind numbing 5 hours to play. However, played it the day before in 4 hours, so might have been the (bad) luck of the draw! I will play it again for sure.

The tee selections are plentiful and if you play the correct tees you will enjoy your round.

Third time playing this course. Conditions were great for second week of March. Food before our tee time was great. Greens were quick and fairway was plush. Complaint… SLOW PLAY!!!!! A couple and two men were in the foursome. The two guys were playing a best ball scramble. The starter said “this will help them play faster.” Could not be further from the truth. They were playing zig zag golf, hitting worm burners. Searching for extra balls in the pond, taking four strokes out of the bunker and taking minutes to line up putts when they were putting for quad bogey. One hole from tee to off the green took them 22 minutes. Round was well over 5 hours and 20 minutes. When I said something at the turn about the pace, the cart guy said this is what happens when the ranger goes home. (It was only 345).. I have read other reviews about the pace being slow. Third time playing this course. Pace of play was never good. This time was down right absurd.

We played a few courses all near the same price point and this was the best by far

Always a reliable early season course on the island. Tee boxes and fairways in lovely shape and greens decent speed and rolling true.
Only negative this year was a lot of small pebbles in the sand traps... leading to a lot of small pebbles on the greens.

Currently course is in amazing condition. The over seeding in the fall certainly helped. Played in the mid afternoon, front 9 was great, back 9 way too slow. When we teed off, started commented about a slow group and we joked hopefully there is a ranger on the course. Many times there were 3 groups on a hole and we were the middle group. Never saw a ranger. However we still finished in 4 hours and 15 minutes.
