Needs Rain
The course layout has always appealed to me, but, when the fairways are so dry, it feels like hitting into dirt. That was somewhat of an issue on the front nine, but, improved on the back. The tee blocks were nice and green and just fine. The front nine had greens that were okay and running fair, with some little leaves on them. However, the back nine showed marked winter kill, bare spots and ran with bumpy shots and just not fun. The traps has grass clumps in them here and there. Work was being done on paths and that indicated future improvement. Would play again at a later date, maybe after a good rain. The restaurant was closed until 4 pm, as per covid. Drinks were available in the pro shop.
good course for the price
Good place to play for practice. Variety of shots required. Fairways were average condition, greens were slow.
Had a good round here, greens could definitely need some care but layout of the course was fun. Not bad for the money especially if other courses are busy. Overall was a good round though.
Packed
Overbooked. Out of carts, long line at the first tee. Five hour round but a good time was had by all
Solid
Solid place to play. Staff is great, don’t bother the guests as long as they are respectful of the facility. Not gonna blow you away with curb appeal but the course wasn’t a lot of fun to play and the greens were in mint condition on the front 9.
nice course
It's an older course. Has a nice layout. Would go there again. Fairways a little thin. Greens in fair condition. Had a good experience.
Decent course
Lots of maintenance, paths under work, heavy grass. Not a great condition or feel of the course. But for $20 it’s a good play, feels like a $20 course. Also pace of play was really rough. I’m a single and it took 5+ hours which normally I can play in 2.5 hours by myself and I hit low 90. Make sure to take the whole day off
Can See Inprovements
Course improvements noticed, good over seeding and most greens look improved. But I would say have still need updating. Maybe if they were mowed, rolled, and blowed each day would help. Bumping on a few. Played Sunday, none of the traps had been raked since end of week. Machine rake daily would help. No clubhouse staff at 4pm when we came in off 18, the waitress was having to check in late comers and my buddy wanted a pair of golf shoes, the one waitress had to go into the clubhouse to grab and ring up. Busiest I had ever seen the course, no carts available when we got in off 18. Good for course, sure they need the $. I like the course and it's a good in between for our Orlando and east coast players to meet. Looking forward to seeing the greens improved.
Much Improved
From the warm friendly greeting at the Pro Shop by Christine to the well groom tee boxes and greens this course was welcoming and fun to play.
Wedgefield is on the upswing!
Conditions are vastly better than 6 months ago when we took Wedgefield off our rotation. After reading more favorable recent reviews we gave it another try and are glad we did! The work that is being done to get this course back to tip top shape is obvious and extensive. Wedgefield has been put back on our rotation and we are looking forward to our next rounds there. Thanks Craig and staff for putting your heart and soul into the effort!
