Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Texas (2022 #13)

Was just meh
Maybe I was expecting too much since I saw this course on a lot of Top 10 courses in Texas. I golfed Heritage because the other course was closed. That meant everybody golfed Heritage and it was packed and slow. The marshal allowed a 5-some behind us. I've golfed courses in Phoenix that don't have a weed. This course definitely had weeds. No GPS on the carts. It seemed like a standard middle-of-the-road public course. I don't get the hype.
Snobby workers
Saw good reviews and wanted to play here. So I was excited to play here however, first thing I noticed was the carts were not good. No GPS and ripped seats. Weeds were everywhere and the pace of play was horrible. 1st tee box was packed so I was told to start at 10. Then as I play on I see a bunch of workers playing holding up the course back on hole 4 or 5. Unbelievable behavior from the staff. Just a overhyped municipal course. Best thing was the city views, besides that not coming back for the price.
Nice Golf, Very Good Conditions
My wife and I played this course and really enjoyed the lay out of the course. We had perfect weather and since we were a twosome a couple of players in front let us through. We have a very nice 4 hr round.
Good Track; Challenging
This was the first time on Highlands. Greens were ok...a bit on the slow side. Bunkers were good and the fairways were firm (with ample good grass). There were a few visually "weird" holes that were difficult when playing the course for the first time.
Overall, while my son recommended the Highlands course over the Lakes, we preferred the Lakes.
It seemed to me that there were more blind shots on Highlands with unknown outcomes, than there were on the Lakes course.
Always great
We love playing Wildcat. Conditions are always excellent and the staff is friendly and professional.
Wildcat- Highlands was a great experience
First time playing Wildcat, weather wasn’t the greatest but everything else was top notch! Staff was welcoming and friendly, course was in great shape for this time of year. Played on a Monday morning and it seemed like we had the course to ourselves. Two groups allowed us to play through with easy. After the first round, we payed the inexpensive replay fee and played a second round. Already looking forward to my next visit to the challenging course
Hills in Houston?
So much for everything is flat at sea level! Incredible rolling hills, lakes, streams, views and wildlife. Can’t wait to come back!
Great as Alays
The best facility in Houston. Course is in great condition and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Was pretty busy and still played in 4 hours. Good job Marshalls.
