Stretching over 320 acres in the southwest area, Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club (previously known as Royal Dunes) transforms mostly flat terrain into a challenging course that uses practically twice the amount of land a standard course. The course incorporates superb landscaping featuring towering mounds and hollow valleys for an interesting and scenic game. This desert golf course has wide fairways and generous landing areas. The dunes-style layout requires precision from tee to green. The difficulty of the golf course lies within the deep, strategically placed sand bunkers, multi-tiered greens, and native grass roughs. Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club provides adequate challenge for players of any skill level.

What a GEM!!
Very few places you can go play where you have QUIET. When you're away from the clubhouse, there are holes where you just need to stop, admire the view, and just listen..... For the sounds of silence. Love it!!
And BTW, the course is gorgeous, and the greens and fairways are perfect!!
Great Course
My favorite course in the Phoenix area. Great layout, Great condition, Great practice area and friendly staff. Best value out there!
One of the best in area
The course is in great shape and greens roll really well and fast. Fairways and tee boxes are also in great condition. I would recommend this course to anyone. It can be pricey at times but if you can get a deal it is defintaly worth a drive out too.

I've now played this course 4 times (3 winter vacations). I will be back every winter to play it. It's absolutely gorgeous and in great shape. The greens are some of the best in the valley. Everything about this course makes it a fun track to play.
Play a couple times so you can get the nuances of where to hit it and how to attack the greens. You won't regret it.

Course was in great shape and the pace of play allowed us to finish 4 hours.
Course was perfect. Range was exceptional. Lunch was delicious. Challenging but not discouraging for a mid-handicap. Can’t wait to play again.

Great course in beautiful community. Have played 20-30 times since 2010. Always play here every winter. Clubhouse has friendly staff, Marshalls are great. Look forward to another round here in a few weeks.

Enjoyable day at Southern Dunes
This is one of my favorite courses in the Phoenix area. Course was in good shape after the rain. The layout is fun, challenging and interesting. Maintenance was good, but some bunkers need work. Definitely will return
Southern Dunes A Real Gem
Beautiful and challenging layout. Every hole displays scenic desert trees. Heavily bunkered so bring your A game from the sand. Fairways are generous. Very playable and enjoyable!
Great course...and a small critique
This course is awesome and impresses me more everytime I play it. You need to use every club in the bag and are rewarded for good shots. Tough but fair. A small critique - if you play from the back tees they are not in very good condition. Very lumpy/uneven. Play this course!
One of the top 10 Courses You can play in Arizona
It's always a please playing Southern Dunes. Rates are actually reasonable compared to the other superb courses in Arizona this time of year. Highly recommended!
One of the best course in the AZ!
Having come down to the Phoenix area from Canada for 12 years now, I can honestly say I make sure I play this course every time I come down. It would be a shame not too! Everything from driving down the lane to the clubhouse, to the friendly staff, practice facilities, perfectly manicured fairways and the truest greens, to leaving and reminiscing about the day on the drive home...it just doesn’t get better! And the food is incredible! Highly recommend. You will be hard pressed to find a golfing experience that matches Southern Dunes in all of Arizona!
