Windy Knoll Golf Club

About
Windy Knoll Golf Club is known among locals as being one of Springfield's best public golf courses. The course was built in 2001, though you would not be able to tell from its traditional links design. It manages to be a classic links golf course while still being a challenge. The site was originally a horse farm and the design incorporates some of the features from the terrain's former use. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways. Golfers will find many risk-reward opportunities on the course, one good example being the par-4 eighth. This hole plays into the prevailing wind and if you miss your drive, you may find yourself in one of the eight bunkers surrounding the undulating green.

Great day in the links !!!
Windy Knoll is a beautiful links style course. The course is in great condition for this early in the year. The sand traps were all raked and in good condition ( unfortunately I was in them more than I wanted to be). The staff was very friendly and pleasant. The rate of play was very good. It has a nice facility if you care for a beverage or food after your game.
Consistently fun course from 1 to 18
Windy Knoll is a pretty nice course just an easy one hour drive from Columbus and one I’d definitely recommend for anyone in the area, especially if you get a nice hot rate on GolfNow! Bonus points for the par 3 third hole where I scored my first Ace.
Worth the drive!
We drove up from Cincinnati to play this course and would do it again. Interesting layout, challenging holes, and the course was in nice shape. Definitely recommend!
S L O O O O W play !! need a RANGER please
We play this course at least twice a year because it is conveniently located & is a decent distance for us shorter hitting seniors. Would play more often if the pace of play wasn’t soooo slow. We keep coming back hoping not to have the same frustrating experience as last time but haven’t lucked out yet.
Two suggested solutions to slow pace are:
1) Space tee times at least 10 minutes apart so fairways are not
3 groups deep per hole.
2) A RANGER !!!
great time
The course was in excellent shape. the pace of play was very good.
Fall golf
The course was in great shape considering it was October. You have to hit good shots or the course will make you pay. That's what I like about this course.
One of the best public courses in Central Ohio.
Weekday Escape
Took a day off from teleworking to get some fresh air and sunshine. The greens and fairways were in great shape. Played 18-holes in just under 3 hours. Highly recommend.
Great afternoon at WK
Had a great afternoon with a close friend at WK. used a golfnow promo on top of a great rate. Pace was great especially having another twosome (one walking) inviting us rhru. Course is in great shape including the traps.... they are adhering to Covid 19 protocol and all is good here. It helped having rain earlier which may have scared off others. Love the course. It is about a 50 min drive but worth it...
Great day of golf!
Beautiful course, took many pictures., everything in perfect condition from tee box to greens. Thank you!
Good day on a good course
The golf course was in really good condition considering the lack of rain Our area has received. The greens were a little slower but rolled extremely true. There were some burned-out spots in the rough in Fairway here in there. The largest distraction was the pace of play. Our group waited on every shot the entire round. Great course for the value
Warm day at Windy Knoll
Played solo today after getting a great rate along with a promo code on golfnow. The weather was typical August.... Hot, humid, sunny and dry... I laid out my tee boxes for a 5,700 yards between white and gold tees. I wanted an opportunity to score and not always hitting woods as a second shot. My strategic tee box choice worked out well for this 67 year old. It was a true pleasure to play when you could hit iron shots to the green as opposed to woods to the green. There was a foursome on the back nine who were gracious to allow me to play thru. The course was in great shape and traps, while I didn’t have the pleasure of landing in one, looked very playable. They have all the carts set up with a plastic separator so two can easily ride per cart in compliance with Covid 19. Enjoyed the quick play and ability to score on a challenging but playable track I laid out for myself....
First timer playing this really beautiful course.
Very nice challenging course with plenty of variety of holes. This course booklets needs to be updated with current water hazards. Staff was super friendly. Easily completed the round in less than four hours.
I made the one hour drive from Columbus and will definitely come back with my buddies.
Enjoy!
