The Concession Golf Club
The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida is a collaboration between Tony Jacklin and Jack Nicklaus. The two are linked forever because of the 1969 Ryder Cup matches at Royal Birkdale when Nicklaus conceded a short putt to Jacklin that halved their match. The Concession Golf Club, a private club established in 2005, is named for that moment. Nicklaus designed the course, which stretches to 7,474 yards and has a 155/76.6 slope/rating. The greens are also particularly undulating. A remarkable practice facility and short course (The Gimme Course) was added in 2019. In addition to hosting the 2021 World Golf Championships, Concession is also NCAA Championship host and bi-annual host of the Concession Cup, established in 2014.

Should Be A Top 100 Course
I have had the opportunity to play The Concession about 5-6 times throughout the years, as my father is a member. The course is always in perfect condition, not a blade of grass out of place. Every hole is a different hole and challenges your entire bag. A true shot makers course, that is meant for an avid golfer. Greens are perfect, fast, true, and fair. Hit the ball where you are supposed to and you will score well. Hit the ball poorly, and the course will eat you alive. Fairways are generous with plush grass, water and sand everywhere. Should be a top 100 course, probably top 50, but the gem is well respected amongst golf circles, and that’s all that matters.
Just a beautiful, relaxing, place to play golf. You, your caddie and Mother Nature.
I have played golf all over the United States, Europe, and Africa. The Concession is by far, my favorite place to play. The course is always in great shape, the staff is wonderful. Best practice facility ever. Difficult, but fair. Love it!
not worth it
Expensive doesn't mean great. First class in every way except for the layout. Played it before they shaved the greens to make it more playable and after. Still have to hit shots defensively to hit or stay on the greens...even putts. (just watch the NCAA nationals) Faldo criticized it when he went on and off several greens while playing with Jacklin. So have many other scratch golfers. A snobbish course for snobbish members. But in snobs, only #2 belhind Chrystal Downs.
Pretty terrible review....you sound like the Snob unfortunately....
The Concession Golf Club
I could not believe there are no reviews so I will be the first.
I played three rounds here in 2007. The first Concession Cup four ball event. Everyone played the tips, needed to be 2 or less hcp.to be invited, so yes awesome. I am 60 years old now & at 52 the course played long . I would like to play the course now that hybirds are in my bag, hitting 3,4 irons into these greens is challenging. I know they have made some modifications to the greens before the NCAA womens & mens championships in 2015 but this is a great layout. I shot 78 in the practice round, the course rating from the tips & sometimes the first round can be your best when you don't know all the bad places to find yourself . Enjoy your round, great course.
Definitely a five-star experience on a enjoyable and challenging course
Fortunately, for members and guests, there are five sets of tees, because from the tips, this is one hard golf course with a slope rating of 155/76.6. The real fun here on this atypical Florida course (it has sort of a links feel to it) comes on the greens, since this was designed around the same time Jack Nicklaus did Dove Mountain in Arizona, the former site of the WGC Match Play. Tour players complained that some of the greens were unfair, and there was a little of that at Concession as well. Concession's front nine was renovated because of it. Still, the greens are perfectly maintained and fast. The bunkers, which are filled with pure white and expensive, imported Pro Angle sand, are quite a challenge as well. One of the best stories and lessons are where to hit and not hit is when six-time major champion Nick Faldo played the course, he made a mess of the par-5 13th hole. After hitting the green in two, putted it off the green and wound up in his pocket. Still, though, the greens aren't impossible; they're just a great test. And fortunately, the fairways are pretty generous. Course conditions are among the best in the country, and the club also has some of the best practice facilities anywhere, which is no wonder that many tour players – such as Britanny Lincicome, Sandra Gal and Andy Bean are members.
