Disgusting and potentially dangerous. A guy died from bacteria on a golf course once from nasty jugs. Photo submitted by JustaGOONER on 10/01/2019

Overall good
I was sent out a bit early as a single and the course was pretty empty so pace of play was not an issue. The course has a nice base of dormant fairway grass in most spots. The signs of so much rain and the damage it has done on most courses is starting to fade but the bunkers were in awful shape and I was surprised that no effort had been made recently. I lost 2 balls in bunkers due to the water damage and extensive leaves still in them. The greens were in nice shape and rolling well. Nice practice facility. Lake Chesdin is a nice course that you should play with only the bunkers and its somewhat remote location as negatives. Well worth the trip and even better when things start to open up again.
Good deal but way too wet. Close the course when unplayable!
The course could be nice. Everywhere including tees were wet, it has not rained in a few days. Bunkers were completely unopayable. Greens were decent and fair. Range was closed, but by booking on Tee off we were not made aware of that until check in.
Best Bang for Your Buck Within 30 Miles of Richmond, VA
We drove up from Farmville, VA. Great course for half the price of Independence Golf Club. I could be partial because I played well but if you are in the Richmond area this is a must play.
The course is awesome and not crowded
Lake Chesdin is an awesome golf course and was not crowded today. The only problem was too many leaves and it was very difficult to find your ball if off the fairway. Other than that, perfect!
Good Conditions
Despite the rain last week, the course is in good condition. Sure, there were some areas wet/muddy. Watch your ball if it's headed to the Bermuda rough. This time of the year it can settle down and hide. Leaves would be the other factor but greens were blown clean. Fairways and tees boxes were maintained. At first, they charged me for an extra cart but changed their mind and refunded me. They even had a beverage cart on a Sunday. I live nearby and try to play here a handful of times per year.
Chesdin on a Beautiful day!
What can i say, course is in great shape, greens were really quick but rollled nice. Slow round.. It was a beautiful day and the course was crowded which is unusual. 5 hours. Club house pretty much shut down due to covid.. If you can play here, great course.
Always a pleasure
Fun course. Good shape, staff very courteous, great amenities, great Covid19 care, organized. Greens, fairways in great shape. Rough is very difficult. Pace was slow. 72 degrees and sunny on Nov. 7 will do that but it was 5 hrs FYI. Didn’t mind as the course is pretty. Tee choices were 5700 then up to 6300. Big gap. Suppose I could have mixed them. Great day.
Greens are awesome
Love this course. Greens are in great shape! Worth the drive and money. Would play there again for sure.
Great greens
This course has the truest greens in Richmond. Course layout is fair. There are some blind trouble spots you need to be aware of, but most holes are straight forward.
Will return!
Too slow and no credit card service on a gorgeous court
Court is beautiful but the pace was SUPER slow and there was no service to pay for food and drinks with credit card or a server.
It’s a great course, however....
I’ve played here a few times now. The range is good, but you will have to adjust for yardages as it is well below the hitting area.
The course is always in great shape, the tee boxes are level, the fairways are clean and the greens are some of the best in the area, fast and true.
What I truly do not understand is why they renovated the 19 hole but it is NEVER open. Ever. Like EVER.
This used to be a private club and they, like many, have allowed public play for a semi private experience so maybe they just used the 19 hole for member events...???
The big disappointment with this is that there is NOTHING near the course for eats and drinks. With all the play, why would they not provide that for pre or post play?
They did have a refreshment cart yesterday, so that was a nice change of pace, but why the 19th hole isn’t available is pretty baffling to me.
Well worth the trek through the countryside to get to it.
Great course to play
All was top notch with the course and people at the course
The rough is ridiculous.. no snack bat at the clubhouse
