Game with friends
Glad to be out on the course again. 4 ball in front of us were very slow. The course was very boggy due to the constant rain we've had. All in all great to be out again
Played during winter greens and COVID times.....
Holes 8 and 9 where closed....so that was a bit dissapointing as (both) holes looked the most challenging for the 9 hole course.....
Overall though, we considered it value for money
Bad experience
I tried calling this club for 3 days after I booked. We had some bad weather and tried calling 5 times on the morning of the session but again no answer.
We turned up and the golf shop is closed and the facilities are closed and there is no organisation of who is teeing off at what time.
Clearly people playing who hadn't booked a tee slot.
We decided not to play and went to another course.
Then read the reviews online and this seems to be the case with Gatley. Terrible reviews and the same bad experience.
Wouldn’t bother
I had been looking forward to playing Gatley and booked a round for the Sunday just gone on the GolfNow App. Turned up to find that the course was closed despite the booking being made and payment taken 24 hours prior to this. Very disappointing as we received no email or call to say the course was closed. A number of other people had the same problem. It didn’t help that there was nobody at the course to explain the situation. All other local courses seemed to be open. Won’t be coming back I’m afraid.
Mostly Enjoyable
Played here 4 times recently. I'm new to golf and have been enjoying the deals on this local course. It's a tight, compact course which is fairly challenging but good fun. Unfortunately the "inspector" was really grumpy and rude to me and basically said that he hates golfnow and the people that use it as it messes up the rotation etc. I felt a bit disheartened as a new player at being treated like this.
Harley golf club
Lovely round of golf in a nice location only played nine holes course in great condition and cost only £8-00 plus one pound booking fee great value on this lovely course
The planes flying over add to the experience all in all a good afternoon
Nice 9 hole course
Nice 9 hole course but a bit slow on the second nine when it got busy.
It was in very good condition when we played but the pro shop was closed as was everything else.
Overall a nice course to play.
Good value
Good 9 hole course however on 2nd set of 9 holes the greens had been heavily sanded and some greens was like putting on a beech which spoilt it a little but overall good
Good to see this course in good nick
Really enjoyed playing 18 holes, went round really quick, and the last two holes a real test
Poor
Booked tee time for 10.40 and paid £12 for 18 holes only to find on arrival at 10 that the pro shop and clubhouse were closed and everybody else on the course obviously hadn’t paid. Played the 1st hole only to find that I had to play back down the 1st fairway on the second hole. Very dangerous. Railway runs through the middle of the course and it’s on Manchester airports flight path. Greens were terrible. Just disappointing and rubbish.
Gatley GC
Wanted a cheap quiet local round to practise and Gatley was perfect.Course in v good condition after years in the doldrums but still no one in the "shop" to check my booking. As long as you don`t mind the quirky/eerie feel of a deserted Clubhouse etc it`s actually a really nice course now.Two nice par 3`s and the difficult 8th on this nine hole course.Greens 9/10 as a few bare patches but 3 greenkeepers mowing great fairways.
It`s not your normal Golf Club but as long as you get a hot deal its worth it especially if ur a one ball wanting to stay local
Members far from friendly.
My 20 year old son asked me to play golf with him.
I had not played for 30 years but found the GoGolf app and booked a tee time at Gatley for two.
I dug my clubs out of the garage which I bought second hand whwn I was 15.
We arrived nice and early for our tee. We spoke to a member who showed us where the course maps were and location of the first tee.
It was at the first tee where we encountered 3 unpleasant members.
My son who had never played golf before went to the wrong tee, we were told we needed a bag per player, we were told thw shorts we werw wearing were not suitable and I was asked have you paid?
This attitude is unacceptable. Here I am trying to encourage the next generation of golfers and these members were doing all they could to upset us.
Very Poor and very disappointing.
Avoid at all costs!
This is by far the worse course I’ve played.
- no staff onsite
- club house locked
- pro shop locked
Unable to confirm tee times on arrival, multiple people playing without confirmation of tee times!
Avoid, worse course around the area.
I’ve just finished a round, this is possibly the worse course I’ve played.
We arrived 15 minutes before tee off time, club house / pro shop all closed. No staff onsite, luckily we found a member who directed us to the first tee as no signage to first tee, we arrived at the first tee on time to be greeted by 2 4 balls waiting to tee off who were either delayed in starting or starting out of order!!
Avoid at all costs.
No staff at course.
Every facility was locked therefore couldn't go to the toilet or collect any scorecards. No one answers the phone. Weather was poor but course open so would expect someone to be on hand for advice etc. Hope to get refund.
Strange Course
A strange experience. Club house and pro shop locked up entire visit. We only knew our way round as we bumped into a couple of members in the car park. They kindly explained the course layout , which wee would have found extremely difficult as it’s split in 2. They also provided us with a scorecard which you would always expect the club to provide. Tee markings not the clearest . Fairways in good condition, greens slow , semi rough overgrown which obviously slows play trying to find balls. .
