Nice open course
This course is reasonably flat with wide fairways and is very forgiving. Perfect for someone who isn’t a long hitter or a beginner. The course conditions were as good as can be expected at this time of the year. Well worth playing for the money.
Great Experience
Was my first time playing here and I couldn’t be more impressed. A friendly welcome by the staff followed by an excellently maintained and interesting course to play on.
Considering the adverse weather we have had the grounds keepers have down an outstanding job.
Looking forward to return soon.
Short but good!
The course was surprisingly playable considering the wet weather of the previous few weeks. Tees and fairways were soft but not boggy. The greens were well looked after and ran fast and true. Definitely a course to play in winter conditions.
Hurtmore
Enjoyable round of golf, great value for money and good to see the course in good condition!
Second time on this course
Course conditions. Fairways - average; greens - excellent
Some of the directions between holes could be better.
Open rather than closed bins, so some rubbish blowing about.
We played as a 3 ball. The 4-ball in front of us were very slow,. Could have speeded up with some gimmes, as they were putting balls in from a foot away,w which made their generally slow play even slower.
Some challenging holes and rough can be penal, if you find your ball, that is
All in all, it is an enjoyable course with some easy and some challenging holes. Not too long, which helps higher handicappers.
Nice little course
Fun course. It was tipping it down but the greens and fairways held up well. Bunkers were swimming pools - but no fault of the course! Quite a short course - only one par 5 - but the holes were good fun if not the most challenging. Good pace of play - but not that surprising given very wet conditions - think a lot of people stayed away!
Had it not been raining and cold it would have been nicer. But the course is rather short for my mate and I. My mate outdrove a few of the par fours
Good course - gives you a chance
Enjoyed the course. Other people have mentioned the fairways can be below average and I would concur with that. Some areas of the fairways are more like rough. Having said that it's not a huge issue given the cost of the round. Conversely, the greens are excellent and it's a fairly fun course to play.
For the first time on the course, some of the directions between holes are not clear in all cases.
Whilst the staff were generally efficient, some were a little brusque/over officious.
Overall, a good experience. I will visit again.
Slow
A very slow round of golf . Sometimes a five to ten min wait in every tee box . 2 ball in front treating it like a pitch and put taking 20-30 shots per hole spoilt the whole round
12 holes in 4 hours then we left
I’ve never spent so long hanging around waiting, there was a society before but the slow playing was painful, at times there were 3 different groups waiting behind us to tee off as we were waiting for the people in front to play their second shot (and they were playing Texas scramble), there was no marshalling of this either. Perhaps if I’d chosen another day at another time it would have been a different experience but unfortunately this is what it was. The annoying part is we only played 12 holes in the end as it would have been the best part of 6 hours to finish the round and this is a short course.
This was brought to the attention of the clubhouse but they didn’t seem interested and said perhaps if I had called rather than book it online I would have known it was a society, I found this a bit annoying as if they were saying it’s my fault, they could have left a tee time free like some other courses do for society. Like i said it might have been bad timing but this was my experience.
Disappointing
Fairways were hard and patchy, so it was more difficult to play chip shots. Pace of play was very slow as we were a 2 ball stuck behind a 4 ball and as a result the round took 3 3/4 hours, which for a short course(which this is) we found too slow. Having to wait before playing each shot spoiled the momentum and enjoyment. Also the holes were not well separated one from the other as balls cam from other tees onto your fairway quite regularly.
A well designed attractive course
This course is a little gem. All holes have been well designed with good generous greens. Its a course thats always interesting and just fun to play. Its a real confidence booster as well because most holes are under 400 yards so even high handicappers have a chance to get pars. Its also a very attracive course with many ponds and views of the Surrey Hills. The one negative is the state of the fairways which are bare of grass in places, but we eliminated this problem by playing preferred lie.
First 18 holes for about 6 years!!
Getting back into golf following an extended layoff and this was the first full 18. Played Hurtmore many years ago so it was good coming back. Managed to avoid the rain but the wind was blustery which made club choice a little interesting and also shortened the drives considerably. The course is still recovering from the dry spell we had a few weeks ago and the fairways were very patchy. We decided to use pick-up and replace when we landed on the fairway so no one had bare lies. The greens overall were pretty good although some were bumpier than others.
Course was busy. We were playing at a decent pace but I think the four ball behind us in buggies must have had something else to do later on in the afternoon.
Golf the relaxing way
A very nice course to play. Challenging enough but with some holes that make you feel good about your golf game.
Nice staff and a very pleasant day out.
Play here
I’ve always found this course a confidence booster. Mostly forgiving fairways with massive receptive greens. But this course can bite! Big greens doesn’t mean easy putts. Lots of slope, and tough pin positions but these are tempered with consistent well kept surfaces. Today was no different the only negative was that some of the fairways are a bit bare in places. A great course to play - especially high handicappers or if you new to the game. Give it a go you won’t be disappointed
Awesome Course
What can i say, the tee boxes were great, the greens were amazing.... KUDOS to the greens keepers, the fairways were rock hard and at times difficult to hit from but i hit the majority of shots with a smile and that's all i can ask for playing golf as a beginner.
The layout is great and has some gorgeous looking holes.
great course, great layout, and i'm glad i got a buggy because in that heat you needed the speed for a breeze :)
If only
If only the fairways were 50% as good as the greens. Fully apprecaite that we've had some nice warm weather, but the fairways at this course are shocking. Not a tuft of grass anywhere in sight.
Greens are in very good nick.
