Warning! Holes under construction!
I am a bit cross about today’s round. I had the choice of three good courses, but chose the most local at Ingestre. I can’t believe they charge £35, when Sandwell is £28 and Handsworth only £20, both of which are much better tracks!
First up, my 2pm booking clashed with a competition so I was asked to move to an earlier tee time. Why advertise this tee time as available when it clearly isn’t.
Upon arrival I could see the new holes under construction, especially the new 18th green. This alarmed me as I was under the impression my round would be unaffected by the ongoing work. I raised this with the guy in the pro shop, he seemed annoyed that I had raised the fact that I might not get a full 18 holes. A bit narked, I went out to play. At the time of writing, the 10th and the 18th are affected by construction work. This will get worse as the construction progresses.
Why oh why are they charging £35 for a reduced round of golf? I find this incredibly mean of the club given the prices listed at other courses. I won’t go back until the new course is fully open.
Very peaceful countryside golf
Surrounded by beautiful parkland, superb greens. The only noise is singing of birds, really relaxing.
Course under going some reconstruction but didn’t affect our round. Good layout friendly staff and members
Ingestre is an excellent golf course which tests all aspects of your game. Tight fairways and doglegs make you think about taking driver from the bag off each tee. Greens are well kept and fairways tidy and manicured.
Ingestre will be redeveloped as a result of HS2 and the new holes look to have great features too! I’d totally recommend Ingestre to any golfer!
Challenging but fair course
Lovely course. Need to be accurate off the tee but not too punishing if you do stray. Fairways were in great condition and the greens were pretty fast despite all the rain. Really enjoyed the round. Would definitely play again. I thought it was a tiny bit expensive compared to some other similar courses I’ve play but still worth it for such a nice course.
course condition was firm and it had rained 3 days prior
the layout was my favourite with a lot of dog legs but not long so could use irons of the tee and still plot your way round
the greens had drop off left or right or both sides of them which I enjoyed
anoying that some one had to let us in to use the toilets because you needed a code
great day and would recommend it
Hear a lot about the course prior to playing . An heard nothing but good things . But after about 6/7 holes just got abit bored . Every green complex seemed the same . Back to front slope . Being local an looking at getting a membership somewhere I just found it amazing what they are asking for membership a year . Well maintained an bloke in pro shop was a top bloke that couldn’t do enough for ya . Average course tho in my opinion but horses for courses
Great course in fantastic condition. Greens fast and true. Would thoroughly recommend
Great course and layout greens in perfect condition.staff very friendly and members friendly.great day out but weather not still enjoyed the day.
Great course, shame about the members
First time playing the course, the course itself is great and in good condition considering the winter months. This was tempered somewhat by the attitude of the rude and obnoxious members, who put a dampener on the round and made us feel extremely unwelcome throughout.
Should you be on TeeOffTimes if you don’t do them?
On check-in told the course ‘doesn’t do tee-off times’...we only do that for the TOT website. Not great news when you booked an early time to get out an play & there’s a queue of members waiting to tee off at your booked time. Ended up sandwiched between several groups so after a few decided to miss out some holes to create some space. Don’t think you can have it both ways - if you want visitors extra cash then you need to use actual Tee-Off-Times. Otherwiise it’s just rather awkward.
Pros; Really nice layout, amazing views, used greens ok for time of year, good facilities (nets, range, compressed air etc)
Cons; Sticky clay mud base, don’t do tee times, winter greens on some holes required, bird cannons in local area
