West berks golf course
Played after out own course closed due to flooding. Considering the weather we have had the past 2 weeks the course was ok and only a few areas which were roped off.
I’ll be back
I was looking to play somewhere different than my home course.
Really nice course and lay out. Even thought the weather had been very wet the few days before the course wasn’t too boggy or wet. The greens were really good considering the weather. Lovely setting, tree lined fairways
Busy Friday afternoon but a couple of members were happy to join up for the remaining few holes to speed things up.
Welcoming staff in the pro shop, very helpful.
Will definitely play this course again
Value for money
A great course , very challenging on some holes but forgiveness on others. The 5th at 627 yards is a great test for any golfer.
Greens in great nick despite some heavy rain the few days before.
At £28 is value for money
A Good Challenge
Played as a two-ball mid Friday afternoon and there was no hold-ups or slow play, all moved smoothly and quickly. Greens, fairways and tee boxes all more than acceptable and well maintained. This is a long course so when choosing if you are a high handicapper with no drive then it could be tough.
For £20 you can’t go too far wrong.

Though quite open a tricky course, liner than you would anticipate and if you are driving straight no problems but if you are not loads of issues and a chip out front m the trees
Enjoyable
We were greeted by friendly staff who prepared two buggies for us and welcomed us to the course. We had used the putting green and were called to the tee early. The course was not busy, the pace of play was down to us so we were not being held up or holding up any others. The course was in good condition and the weather was sunny for the most part. We had a great afternoon.
Trying West Berkshire for the first time
I played in a 2 x ball, with both of us experienced golfers, although not the lowest of handicaps (18 & 21). I chose the course as it was a happy medium between the two of us, and having read the reviews thought it would be what I was looking for.
What the reviews perhaps didnt say (or maybe I didnt take enough notice), was that every fairway was tree lined, some more narrower than others !. As it was a dry, sunny and windy day, controlling the ball could have been easier, as I cannot tell you how many times i had to play sideways, as my driver would take a bounce into the tree line, not giving me a forward shot. The fairways were perfect, with the greens being ok. - Note, the greens look as though they are breaking when in fact most play straight. The formidable 613 yrd par 5, I got onto the green in 3, but took a further 3 putts to finish - maybe I just cant putt. - overall, if you are in the area, have the patience of a saint, this course is for you.
west berks
very enjoyable place to play golf,
very friendly and helpful staff, good food and facilities .
course was wet and boggy in places but didnt prevent us from having a nice enjoyable round of golf ,despite the weather,
some of the holes can be very challenging as pretty much need to be straight of the tees or you will find trouble
12 handicapper. Excellent testing course
First time for me playing west Berks, freinds had played a few times.
Course was in very good condition considering time of year. Some very testing holes mixed with some holes giving good birdie chances.
Greens were in excellent conditions
Will go back again in the summer to play off the proper teeing areas. Friends have played in the summer and say course is fantastic condition.
Price through Golf now was very good. Staff in pro shop were very friendly.
One issue i have at courses is the shoe/trolley cleaning areas. West Berks has 2 very powerful air machines. Excellent!
Overall 4* for this time of year.
Tired tee boxes .
Course long an in good condition, tee boxes let it down, but you can see there doing their best to get them up to scratch. Slow round, but enjoyable views took your mind off of this . Definitely play again .
