St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Nice course for money
Course kept in good condition for amount of play. Typically has openings available on weekends. Downside is if very busy there are inevitability five somes that slow down pace of play.
Greens are outstanding!!!
This course is in great shape. Very challenging and lots of fun
Early play
I was the first off the tee so pace of play was not an issue. Been a while since I played this course but overall it was in pretty good shape. Did not eat at the facility so I cannot give it a rating for that.
It is ok
Generally, it is ok. It was playable. But two holes are too close so I have encountered other players too many times on my course.
Great Course
Played twilight and finished in 3.5 hours! It was a good value @$30 for 18 holes with a cart.
Nice course
The ranger saved the day. we were stuck behind 3 groups of seniors playing best ball. Well on their way to 5 hour round. He moved us in front of them and we were able to finish in 3 and a half after we doubled back. As for the course, it is in very good condition. Fairway needed to be mowed and too much sand in traps for my liking. Greens are well kept. Would definitely recommend.
Saint Andrews Delivers Again!
I love this course - fortunately I played twilight after an all day outing on the Friday before Labor Day and the course was fairly open. Completed 18 holes in about 3 hours; even with two slow foursomes in front. Course was in excellent condition, even after an outing and later in the day.
Consistent conditions
This course is always maintained well. The staff is friendly and the food is good. It gets a lot of play, especially being open year round. But despite the amount of play, it is consistently in good shape. Fairways, greens and bunkers are always in good shape.
Very good value
Played with my sons and had a perfect day. Course is challenging for a regular golfer. It is well maintained and the greens were in great shape. Over all it is a great value.
Great value
For the money, this place is in GREAT shape! Some fun holes mixed in with some simple straight at your holes
A Great Place to Play
The course was somewhat easier than I expected it to be due to minimal water hazards, but changing elevations and fairway bunkers still made the course enjoyably challenging. The tees, fairways, greens, and bunkers were in excellent condition. All my interactions with the staff were friendly and helpful. St. Andrews is truly a great course, and I have nothing negative to say about it.
Nice Course
The feel of an awesome country club for a value. Fairways long, some having dog legs. Some sand and just a little water.
Great course!
Great course! I loved the lay out. not the pace of play but it was a beautiful Saturday in august.
Worth the trip
I live on the far south side. I passed this place many times through work. I took a chance to play and was glad I did. The staff was perfect!
Nice Staff
Slow pace of play, poor golf conditions due to lack of rain and volume of play. Club house, practice center and staff excellent.
Great Joe Jemsik course
The overall golf facility is great at St. Andrews. Great range, multiple putting greens, and 36 holes of golf. Course is a bit overpriced if you pay standard pro shop prices. You can find great deals on Golfnow and that's what makes this a steal. I played at 7:30am for $20 with a cart on a Wed morning. Finished 18 holes in 2 hours, 20 minutes. Now thats brilliant!!
golf
Overall I was satisfied with my experience at the St Andrews course. Every staff member was extremely helpful and friendly. The only thing that tainted the day was the slow play. While I have played where there was more of a log jam. The pace was slow because the golfers with a permanent tee tee were very slow. There was nobody who tee'd off in front of us for 30 minutes and by the 3rd hole there was delays. I think its just an issue of teaching the guys respect for the course, the game and being considerate of others. On the flip side I will have to say the course rangers did an excellent job handling the issue and speeding up the course. For what you get on the course it was too pricey. I recommend this course because the staff was great and the facility overall is good and the course was maintained. Just a matter of bringing the the course rates.
good course for average palyer
the course was in very good shape..the 17th and 18th hole with water in front of green makes the holes somewhat hard....but fun course to play...
Great,
Always a great course in great shape. love playing up there especially when the price is right.
