Matt Ginella visited Bandon Dunes' latest expansion project, the mysterious Sheep Ranch, and discusses its place at one of America's greatest golf getaways with Damon Hack on Morning Drive.
I played the Sheep Ranch on opening day. The individual holes are terrific in both the visual effects and playability. Greens were very slow probably because of the 4-5 clubs of wind. The biggest negative was the routing from green to the next tee. There were many crossovers that slowed play (waiting for another group to teeoff). The hole routing should be reexamined. It could change the par from 34/38 to 36/36. I would rate the course very high except to take some point away for the routing issues.
Congrats on getting to play opening day! Thanks for the feedback. We'd love a review at the course page if you want to add your thoughts there. https://www.golfadvisor.com/courses/34922-sheep-ranch
