Martin, Is the rule that if the ball is above your feet, the club will naturally take it left? And is it opposite if the ball is below your feet? Will the club want to take it to the right?
Really great info. I've been out with an injury for a while. My long game has made a decent comeback, but I still struggle with club choice and confidence in my short game - this will help.
I think I "stand up" in the golf swing which creates a steep swing for me. Is the shoulder down move coupled with hip rotation basically what you are telling us in this video? Taking the club slowly straight back, rotating the hips and swinging through the ball??
Kurt, your "stand up" move was a subconscious way for you to hit the ball better with your current club face or club balance. Golfers can try to have nice body motions, but if the club's momentum is fighting you, you'd better make an adjustment. Look at your grip and club motion.
On the downswing it appears your head shifts ahead of the ball.
Not behind the ball. Do you drive up on the follow through?
Martin:
Does Tourstriker sell the magnet/ball to put on the face of the club?
Hi Russell, no, but I use bumper hitch aligners I get from Home Depot.
what kind of ping irons you recommend for a 18 hcp.
Hi Bart, I play Honma clubs. Fantastic! If I were you, I’d try the TR21 model.
Good stuff. Sometimes while practicing chips and pitches I begin to hit low spinning shots to the right (right-handed golfer). These are not shanks, but the face of the club must be presenting wide open and its psychologically devastating. Any thoughts?
How far off line if you are 5 yards off the green and have 30’ to the cup?
I keep hitting into the ground on most clubs, my practice swings, I take huge divots, plus the divots start about 2-3inches behind the ball. Not sure what I am doing that I dig into the ground on wedges, irons, and even woods.
Hi Charlie, it sounds to me like you need time with a coach. Ultimately, the circle of our inclined swing needs to touch the ground just underneath and after the golf ball. Your swing circle is too vertical, steep. Or, your weight stays on your trail foot too long.
You made both those shots look simple! I would be upset I ended up it that spot but making par with a tap in from a tough spot to even a harder pin placement gives us all hope! Your the best and again thanks for making us all better golfers!!
Tomas, thanks for the kind words. Some days we are the windshield and some days we are the bug. Gratefully, I was able to hit these shots. Trust me, I miss plenty:)
Great tip, as are all your golf tips (have really helped me! Playing off wiry Bermuda rough here in Florida, would you make any adjustments? Thanks again.
DanG
Daniel, wiry Bermuda grass is really tricky. Either, grip the handle tightly and expect to collect a lot of grass before and after you touch the ball or put the ball back in your stance and have a steeper strike angle into the back of the ball.
Thanks Martin. Will give it some practice.
