The ocean nine might be the most scenic of the three loops at Palmilla. Photo submitted by JasonDeeganGA on 02/12/2014
Great course!
Solid track. Great views. Appropriately challenging.
Long Time Player
I have been coming to Cabo since the mid 90's. Always enjoy the rounds at Pallmia. .
Struggling
So I've played here 25+ times (I have 25 towels and my wife isn't impressed when you do the math on the cost of those towels.) so maybe more than 25 times, because they don't alway give them out!
I love this place, the staff is what keeps me coming back, time and time again, Israel, Caesar, Jose, Issac, Ramon, Daniel-everyone here knows my name, greets me like I matter and cares about my golf experience.
This is the best group in all of Cabo.
That said, I think the place is in a process of transition, Ocean just opened up from a multi month shutdown post covid. It's not pretty. The greens are spongy, slow and furry, however they are healthy and green. They really need a lot of verticutting and rolling to get them back in their pre-covid form of gonad busting speed and readability, not the case right now. Fairways are rough, need water and are sparse, as are the tee grounds. It's just not ready for play, sadly the entire ocean course really needs some dedicated TLC to bring it back to its former glory, and lots of water and sun without golfers to recover.
Arroyo is closed for an extended maintenance.
Mountian is in really good shape, tee to green, and as fun as always to play. waste areas and traps could use some spiffing up as well, no different than Ocean.
Ultimately I think Palmilla is suffering like many of the resorts from lack of water from the effluent plants to fill their reservoirs and water the grounds, it's tough without guest to generate the waste water used to irrigate the courses. much of palmilla went without water last year because of covid, and is paying the price during recovery.
If only for the good of the staff, I'll be back tomorrow and the next day an so on as the place heals post covid and returns to its former glory, my favorite in all of cabo!
Great course
Second time playing here. The course is so well taken care of. The greens are superb and roll true. Word of caution if playing in the afternoon to drink a lot of water.
Nice Course
I played 3 courses during my trip to Cabo last week and you can't lose with this course, Club Campestre, or Cabo Real. Club Compestre was the best value with my golf now hot deal $60 but all three courses were well maintained and fun to play! I would recommend all three courses.
Beautiful views. But a bit pricey
27 holes of great views and tees accommodate all handicap levels
Cabo golf
Beautiful course, excellent practice facilities; wish the ocean course were open.
Another beautiful course in Cabo
I’ve played PLC and Campestre. Pamilla is all Nicklaus. Supposedly, Arroyo was the first course in Baja Peninsula. Most fairways can be on in two, so fun! Most first bunkers are too far to reach off the tees. Bunkers around the green are sometimes the saving grace that I sometimes need. Really enjoyable course. Booked another tee time in a couple of days. I’m a 28 handicap and shot a 100 today. If you need a more challenging course, this course may be the one your bring your non-golfing friend that appreciates the huge variety of desert plants, mountains and spectacular ocean views!
Older Course
It was OK no great shakes but it is one of the first courses in Cabo by Jack.
No Bad Days
Given the weather in Cabo--dry, sunny and warm--it would be hard to have a bad day on the golf course (although it certainly can be windy). Palmilla is an excellent, challenging layout, with great views. Staff were friendly and helpful. My only complaint was a crabby couple playing as a twosome behind us, with a caddy, who called the pro shop to complain about our pace of play--we were literally waiting for the group in front of us to clear each green except for one hole where we had two lost balls to look for; and our group and the one in front of us took 3.5 hours to finish. The golf shop should have told the group behind us to stuff it. A little pricey, but apparently in line with other Cabo courses. I would not hesitate to recommend to friends going to Cabo.
Marshal pushed too much.
We were right on time but the Marshall kept insisting we were going too slow. That made it almost impossible to enjoy the round.
