Experience isn't just about the course
I played El Tigre twice during a recent vacation. I won't likely be back. The course is in good shape. Main hazards and difficulty are due to water, otherwise it is a relatively easy wide forgiving course.
I was a surprised by the staff and their attitudes. Last time I was here, they were welcoming and friendly (I speak Spanish, so it is not about language). This year, both times, the experience was, at best, indifference. From the pro shop, starters, caddies hanging around to the greens keepers, who neither stopped what they were doing, nor moved out of my way on two holes). The staff, just didn't seem to care.
To get my business, a course needs to be challenging and then the experience, created by the staff, needs to be warm, friendly and helpful. The course is good if you don't pay full fare and yet, I will tend toward Los Flamingoes and Marina Vallarta where the whole experience can be had.
Beautiful Day
Golf Now deal made this a good bargain. The course is challenging with lots of water. It also has a number of forgiving holes (wide fairways and rough). Well maintained course and I will be back tomorrow.
Challenges
Enjoyed the round immensely. .nothing much to complain about...two of us finished in 3.5 hours. Only thing is that the sand, especially the fairway bunkers, have a lot of smaller stones...not quite the fluffy stuff. Staff was very attentive too....
No Views, Interesting Course
I booked on-line through a third party vendor and got an excellent green fee, so the round was a very good value. Good idea to hit complimentary range balls prior to playing. Our golf cart had nice face clothes and iced bottled water in a cooler, which was complimentary.
A few difficult holes, Par 3 with water carries and water runs along several fairways. Hole #6 is a challenge! The entire staff from the club house to the starter were friendly and helpful. We didn't eat at the clubhouse but did make a couple purchases at the pro-shop which was well stocked. The food and beverage cart came by several times during our round.
Be sure to bring your sunscreen & mosquito repellent.
Nice par3#6
Overall good course with a very nice par3 #6 signature hole. Staff friendly and nice facility. Drinks were average $4 beer. I thought the greens needed a bit of work, but fairly challenging. Lots of bunkers and water. I would play again.
Better than Grand Mayan
Staying at Grand Mayan and couldn't get a time on their course. Went on GNOW and found time a couple days out. Harder and much more interesting course than Grand Mayan. Greens may be slightly better at GM. Took us < 4 hrs to play versus waiting on every shot at GM > 5hrs. Check out Bengal tiger enclosure by the 17th tee (if you are waiting)
Good course
I was expecting more from this course. I play Vista Vallarta the two of them and at Flamingo. I read a alot of positive comments about El Tigre but it is not the best course of the tree.
Very high prices and very poor greens
I can't believe the full rack rate is $199 for this course. I paid the GolfNow discounted hot rate of $99 and that was too much. On 10-12 holes, one third or more of the greens were covered in sand. Most of the greens had some damage. They used a very coarse sand that made putting even worse than putting on aerated greens. The fairways looked good but every good tee shot in the fairway would be a mud ball with no roll. For the price charged, there is no GPS and very few yardage markers. I guess they expect everyone to hire their caddies. My local muny course is in better condition and charges less than 1/4 of their rack rate.
Very nice course, great service
Well maintained course, that is fair yet challenging. Played the whites at 6250, and had plenty of work. Lots of water and bunkers, but very enjoyable. Staff was very friendly, and keep us in water and ice multiple times during our round. Great practice area, and carts were well maintained.
Green Fee is Worth the money i paíd, Great course !
Green Fee is Worth the money i paíd, Golf Cart with 3 bottles of Cold Water on ice cooler is included,
Great course, Amazing Challenging Hole # 6.
I must come Back to Tame El Tigre Golf Course !
Súper Friendly Staff, very Clean installations, very good Pro-Shop
Phill, Gabriel, and everybody else were real kind and attent.
I got 20 % Discount on both Green Fee And a Scotty Camerón Putter.
Recomendation: Bring or buy at the Pro-Shop both SunBlock Cream And Mosquitos Repellent.
Good fun
Not a difficult course with some good wide landing areas off the tee. There are some difficult holes, water carries on par 3s for example. We came in the dry season so the course was not as lush as it might have been but it was still in very good condition. We enjoyed our round.
Challenging and well maintained
Course was fun to play tough par 3s but a fair layout finishing hole is a long par 5 all the whole you want. Played the course twice greens were a little slow because they were aerated probably 3 weeks prior. Would definitely play again
