Avoid if a high handicap
The course is awesome. A real beauty. HOWEVER, it is very expensive and playing there on this particular day was not a fun experience for a couple reasons. My brother and I were vacationing in Los Cabos and decided to play at Puertos. We had played there a few years prior and had enjoyed the experience immensely. We wanted a repeat experience. It was a typical July day in Los Cabos; hot and humid. We are admittedly hackers but get out on our local courses at least two to three times a month. We are both in our mid 60s. We were joined by a younger and much more skilled player, and he was simply an awesome young man. We were playing to our skill level. There was no noticeable backup of play behind us. Each cart is computerized with distances to the hole provided. Unfortunately they apparently can also monitor the time you are using on each hole and the monitors are constantly reminding you of your pace of play. Believe me, we have played behind some really slow groups in our 30 plus years of golf play, and we are very aware how frustrating slow play can be. But as I previously said, it was hot and humid. We received a message on our cart monitor that we were running over ten minutes behind “schedule”. One of the reasons we previously enjoyed playing on the course is that it provides players with a snack shack every 3 to 4 holes. Those snack shacks provide food, snacks, water, and both non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks as part of your green fees. Great, right? Well you better not get too thirsty or hungry because if you slow down and enjoy your food and drink you will catch the wrath of the golf pace of play monitor. We were visited twice by a golf marshall who was there to push us to play faster. With the golf club rental, my brother and I both paid over $350 each. We both started to worry more about our pace of play than on enjoying this beautiful course. Like I previously said, it was hot and humid. We were playing as fast as we could. It was a very different experience than the first time we played. We won’t be playing there again. We would recommend anyone who shoots over 90 to avoid it as well.
Course was very nice
Loved the Vista Course Ocean was not worth the extra money.
Cabo Golfo
Seemed like the course was moving to maintenance mode as the other nines were closed. But overall the course and the comfort stations were top notch. I have played courses that were just as good in the states for a lot cheaper price. But in Cabo it is what it is. Thanks to the staff for making it a fun experience. Buenos Dias.
Great Value / Beautiful Views
The best course I have golfed in Cabo. Great value with food and drink included. They have food & drink huts every 3-4 holes and nice selection. The course was in good shape and great staff.
More Mexican Misdirection
I played this course today. While, the overall experience was OK. I feel like I’ve been taken advantage of. They require you to pay a $45 premium because it’s all inclusive regarding food and drinks. Not true. After My round, I was ready to settle in for a nice lunch when they told me that was not included.. The only food included is some unappealing tacos on the course. Yes, you can get some drinks but they never tell you this until you are done. On that principal alone, I won’t be back.
PLC
This is just a top notch experience, I’ve now played it four times, various nines. The only negative being it’s painfully expensive as is all/most Cabo golf. Occasionally you’ll find a decent hot deal. Enjoy,
Great Overall Experience
While costly, I feel you get a reasonable value for an excellent round of golf. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Free food and beverages are available at 4 stops during your round. There was no one in front of us, so our twosome was able to finish our mid-morning round in under 4 hours. We played the Mission and Ocean nines. While they had a somewhat different feel, they seemed to both play tougher than they looked. In particular, when standing at the tee boxes on the Mission course, my eye wasn’t quite sure of where it was best to aim. Best to look carefully at the in-cart GPS before deciding. We will definitely return the next time we visit Cabo.
Great Course
Very nice course. All of the employees were awesome. Love the hosted refreshment stations. Nicely done. I did have a twosome in front of me that were a bit slow. I was not in any hurry so I enjoyed the views. I would definitely go back if paying the GolfNow price. I don’t think I would pay the clubs price.
One of the best
A must if you come to Cabo. Stunning views, great conditions. A jewel of Cabo!
Awesome!
From the moment we pulled up the staff were so friendly. The driving range was stocked with balls. The cart was clean. The starter, Peter, was very nice. We played the Mission/Vista courses and they were in very good shape. Food and drinks at palapas were tasty (bring some cash for tips). Pace always slows on Vista course due to difficulty and quirkiness, but still finished just after 4 hours. Well worth the hot deal time price we paid.
Great staff, great tacos, starter was awesome
It is really hot at midday in Cabo in September. I booked a heavily discounted Hot Rate for around noon, but got there a couple hours early. The starter didn’t know I had a hot rate, but said he could get me out because they had space. Went out as a single, but caught up and played holes 8-18 with two other singles. Pace of play was good. The course is interesting, lots of elevation changes. Ring your cheater range finder with slope. I got lucky eight the guys I paired up with. Similar skill sets, and it made for an enjoyable round.
Maybe the best part we’re Las the cold wet towel that was issued when the round was over. It was really hot, and that towel was great. I’d like to come back again at a cooler time of year.
We were also joined by a friendly iguana who was looking for hand outs. He kept his space, but added to the overall vibe of the day.
Great course, but the staff ruins the golf outing
Tough review to write. We (10 golfers + 1 rider) played the Ocean 9 and the Vista 9 on Monday. We had 3 tee times - 12:30, 12:40 & 12:50. We paid $2,000 USD for the 10 green fees + $650 for 10 rentals + $45 for 1 single rider! So we're into them for about $2,700. We show up about half hour early and don't see anyone in front of us, yet we can't tee off any earlier. We also can't drive any of the carts to the palapas to get a drink. The girls checking us in were rude, inflexible and have no business being in customer service roles. Additionally, when we finally are cleared to go to the 1st tee, beforehand our entire group of 11 is "lectured" about "all the things that will get us immediately kicked off the course".
The 2 courses we played were great; challenging, in excellent shape, nice layout and beautiful views. The palapas were fantastic; shrimp and carne asada tacos were outstanding. The bartenders and chefs were excellent.
Even though the golf was great and food was good, I won't play this course again nor would I recommend it to anyone. The clubhouse staff is terrible and "all the course rules" will try and suck all the fun from your golf outing.
