Great Golf Course.....BUT

this is a great course good price wonderful layout..BUT.. they are overwatering it and causing it to have lots of muddy spots in the fairways and the bunkers are so so sometimes raked but for the most part not raked, the fairways had just been punched and also the greens it should be in tiptop shape in about a month but for right now not worth driving down from phoenix to play But they do give you water bottles at the practice range and on about every 3rd hole to keep you from passing out,But at the turn there was no water in the ice cooler and the cart girl was almost invisible only saw her twice in 18 holes

Unique design with refreshing water features

Unfortunately the course was just reopened after aeration. The greens were very sandy and difficult to putt. Pace of play was very slow. Some groups didn't seem to understand golf etiquette.

Very nice design, some very challenging holes # 10, #11, especially signature holes 17 & 18 very scenic.

Staff was very welcoming and accommodating. Look forward to playing again when the conditions are better.

Tough day in Heat!

It was a hot day, but the course was in very good shape. My putts rolled smoothly on the greens, I just couldn't get the speed right. Enjoyed the day with friends. A good golf outing.

The coarse was great. But the 30 mile per hr wind made it very hard.

Amazingly fun!

My wife and I played at Sewailo Golf Club on a recent mini-golf trip. The course is associated with the Casino Del Sol, managed by TROON Golf, and the home for the University of Arizona. We found the course to be in excellent condition, the design well thought out, and challenging. As a bonus, the carts had an excellent GPS system which was needed as our GPS watches did not have the course loaded. Another nice touch, coolers on the carts were filled with bottled water. Furthermore, out on the course they provided ice chests with bottled water at every restroom and on some holes. The layout was challenging with many strategically placed fairway bunkers to catch errant tee shots and there were many green side bunkers protecting the greens. Water came in to play on a few holes but they can be avoided with quality drives and approach shots. Additionally, on the day we played, many of the holes played into a strong wind which made the holes more difficult and played longer than the listed yardage on the scorecard. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape, no browned out or bare spots to be seen. Of special note, there were two great short par 4's. Hole 9 and 18 had the risk reward element with water hazards and bunkering to make you think about going for it or being strategic and laying up between the bunkering. We liked the course and found the value was exceptional for a top tier course.

To boot, the entire staff were extremely friendly and helpful, we will return.

Beautifully designed.

My sons and I enjoyed our experience at Sewailo, from its openness, exceptional design and difficulty. We'd recommend it to anyone and will return.

Great Southwest Course

Beautiful, well laid out course that isn't too difficult for an inexperienced golfer but challenging enough for the more experienced. Our party had a variety of levels in our party and everyone enjoyed their experience. Staff was very friendly along with nice amentieies: GPS carts, unlimited range balls & water bottles along the course. We will return.

Worth the Ride West of the City

Sewailo is a bit of a hike from the normal tourist hangouts in Tucson, but the ride is well worth it. It is also in an area that is prone to wind. This time it was only breezy and the course played a little easier. Most landing areas off the tee are very wide, but they are framed by punitive fairway bunkers. Some of the shorter holes have target bunkers in the fairway that you must either carry or go wide of. No matter who you are or how you play, you will be in several fairway bunkers during your round. There are just too many to miss them all. Greenside bunkering is about the same, but are less damaging. The bunker sand is somewhat hard, so you can do the clean pick. The overall layout is challenging but not unfair. Many greens have compartments that you need to reach but not go above the hole. Being above some placements can set you up for the dreaded 'putt off the green' scenario. The tips, designed for the U of Arizona golf team, are only for scratch golfers. The Ruby tees are for single digits only, while the combo or Jade tees are good for low teens handicappers. Bogey+ golfers will be happier playing the Opal tees. I like most of the holes on the course, which are unique and well thought out. The 18th, a short, teasing par 4, is a cool golf hole, but it is miscast as the finishing hole. The food and beverage set up and service is a bit generic, but that could change if a new building is eventually built. Gamblers staying at the Casino del Sol can easily roll out of the hotel and tee it up. The rest of us have to drive quite a ways, but trust me, you will not be disappointed once you arrive.

Windy Desert Golf

I have to say, this was not that great a course. The design was lacking. Every hole looked about the same except for the length. The par three's except for the first one were nothing memorable. The condition of the course was very good except the fairways had a lot of water on them on the front 9. I think it may have rained the night before although everywhere else was dry. The price was good but I don't think I would come back again. Maybe in the later spring it would be better. Fairly tight driving areas and alot of doglegs. The course is located in the center of the Tucson Desert. There is no wind protection. It blew 10-20 mph most of the day. We played in 4 hours and 20 min. but we did wait on the group in front of us for most of the round. I will try a few other courses in the area before I go back to this one.

Beautiful setting makes the challenge fun

Sew,ails is a gem. Well maintained and in great condition. Greens fast and true. Too many bunkers were frustrating, but if you could avoid them, the course is fair and fun.

Ball placement CRITICAL!

Course is overall, scenic with very good fairways, and outstanding greens but every hole is very target specific. Bunkers and water seems to shadow every hole.

A demanding course for any golfer to say the least.

Great course, but difficult

This course is much harder than most reviews are willing to state. With both bent grass fairways and greens your drives are long and putts are fast. I expected sand on a desert course, but also quite a bit of water that comes into play. As a 12 handicap it played more like I was a 24. Could have just been me and a bad day.

Troon Tough

It is intimidating enough to know this is a Troon managed course and to be informed that it is the toughest course in all of Arizona just gave me the shakes. True to all Troon courses I have played (Troon North and Troon South) this course is long and tough) even for the Ruby tees (Middle). No rough (which is good) but plenty of sand and water in play (which are bad). Pace of play was a little slow but with stunning views like that I am not complaining. Not recommended for the beginner and short course player! Just saying!

Superior Customer Service

From the moment we arrived my partner and I were treated like royalty. Cart guys were eager to help us. Mike in the club house couldn't have treated us any better as he checked us in. During our round he even came out on to the course to see how we were doing and to see if there was anything he could do to make our day better.... Wow !

We had not played the course in over a year, but I guarantee we are going to become frequent players.

Thanks for a fabulous day.

Good course

Fun to play but not one of the best. Course was in good condition. They make a point of keeping play moving at a good pace. Should never take more that 4.5 hrs.
