Reviews
Course was in great shape. Pro shop staff were very friendly. This is a challenging course but fun.
Top Course
Played for the first time here, WOW. Wry nice and well
maintained. Challenging with narrow fairways. But I really a very nice course. Would definitely ply again.
The course is in excellent condition.
This is one of my favorite courses in Arizona. The desert setting and views are magnificent, and most of all it's a FUN Course!!!
Cups beat, greens very slow
This course is usually in great shape. Unfortunately, not this time around. Greens extremely slow and shaggy. The cups looked like funnels and very beat. Greenskeeper needs to figure out how to cut holes as they were trashed and effected many borderline putts. For $80 bucks during this season is way too much for this course.. other valley courses much better shape and 1/2 the price.
Beautiful and Lush Fairways
Golfed here for the first time for my husband’s birthday weekend. Well maintained. Friendly staff. Even though it rained heavily over night the course played well and only ran into minimal rain effects.
Will play again
Conditions were rough for a great layout
Course has plenty of burnout and patches fairways. Expected some, due to weather, but these were excessively worn. Greens were pretty good. Course layout was pretty fun. 1-2 holes were pretty intense with their layout but it definitely was not a cookie cutter course.
Overpriced - Needs Work
Keeping a course healthy in the summer is a challenge, but nearly every fairway had large burned out areas that were unplayable. We were constantly kicking balls over to try and find some decent grass to hit from. The collars around the greens had similar dirt patches. For a $45 round, this would have been no big deal, but for the $90 we paid, I wish I would have played elsewhere. Devil's Claw needs work to justify the price tag.
Slow play and poor condition
Not worth $75
4.75 hour round on a Wednesday in 105 degrees
Slow greens
Horrible fairways - you could consider 80% of them as ground under repair
What took me so long
Lived 10 minutes away from this course for the last 7yrs and just played it for the first time. Great piece of property with 36 holes tucked right off the freeway. Course was in relatively good shape for summer in Phoenix, can’t expect every fairway to be lush. Greens and tee boxes were great. Course layout was awesome and can’t wait to play the Cattail course. A must play if you get the chance.
Too Much for Poor Conditions
I don’t mind paying $80 to play Devil’s Claw when in good condition but not when overseeding is happening within a couple days. The tee boxes were poor on the majority of the holes. The fairways had many bare spots or ground under repair and around the greens had bare spots too. The only positive about the course were the greens which all rolled true. Cost should have been 1/2 the price for these conditions. Also would have been nice if we were told ahead of time about the condition of the course.
Fairways are mostly mud
This course is not currently worth $80. The fairways are mostly mud. Lots of sod all over the course. Greens are slow and very grainy. Would definitely not recommend in it’s current condition.
Poor conditions
Typically this course is great. But it isn’t right now.
