Always enjoy Whirlwind courses
Everything was wonderful. Only complaint is that the course was cart path only. On other courses that are that way Golf Now shows this information on the reservation form. This one did not. Got a sense from the starter that the course website did not have that information posted either. Otherwise a great experience.
Go Yotes
Greens rolled at an 8 on the stimp meter pretty good for just after the overseed.
I like the layout of Cattail over Devils claw but both are always in great shape.
Good experience.
Starter was nice, Pro shop staff friendly. Pulled up to unload clubs, nobody there. I unloaded clubs, bag guy ignored me because the cart girl showed up. Go figure. Guy that cleaned my clubs was nice and got his tip. Course had just opened from reseeding. Fairways were nice, greens medium speed but nice and good roll.. Course was green and beautiful. Pace was good. Paired with two guys that were very friendly. good experience.
great course
course was in great shape. Had a great time playing. Staff was outstanding
great course to play
had some water standing on few holes after the rain storm on Sunday but in great condition
we enjoyed playing and will come back on next trip to AZ
Good Course and Value
Course conditions were great prior to reseeding. Playable with generous fairways but required shot placement and avoidance of numerous bunkers. Greens good
Wiould highly recommend.
vince salotti
Not an easy course to score on. Very challenging and in good condition. The pace of play was very good (4 hours). Can't go wrong with either of the 2 outstanding courses here!
Slowest round I have played in Arizona
This was not a fun round of golf. Unfortunately, the golf course management allowed tee times IMMEDIATELY after a shot guh start tournament. It was a 5 1/2 hour round and we waited on every single shot. Horrible. They should have paid us to endure this torture.
Nice, as always
I've played both courses at Whirlwind multiple times and it never disappoints. The course conditions were outstanding. The tees and fairways were beautiful and the greens were excellent. Green speed was average and they rolled nicely. The course was crowded and we waited a minute or two on most tee boxes but the pace of play was fine. We finished in four hours. All the course staff was friendly and helpful and the beverage cart was around every 4 or 5 holes. We had lunch after our round and the food was good and the beer was cold.
course in exellent condition , we sure enjoyed playing it
Great resort track
Wide forgiving fairways uncluttered by homes or structures. I've always found this course in good shape. Today was no exception. Maybe a bit overwateed is some areas but the greens werenrolling true if a bit on the slow side.
Good deal
Passed on this in the past due to high fees. Golf now special so tried it. A real good test. Conditions on course were very good. Will play again as long as it is under 90$
Excellent
Great Course, fantastic condition, shame about the people who throw their rubbish on the fairways and do not rake bunkers....Marshall's needed to keep pace of play and cleanliness up on such a good venue. Would not stop me coming back and certainly worth a visit...
Great Course but Often not worth the Price
The layouts on both courses are in front of you.......not much to em.....The Devils Claw has more appealing holes and sight lines in my opinion but both are not going to cause better players any grief.
The conditions although visually appealing are always a bit to soft.....especially the greens.....they are way too slow and need to be firmed up and rolled. Puts from myself and the players I was joined up with were bouncing all over the place. And I’ve had the same issue with the greens here before as well. I understand you got to keep it watered to keep it green, but the colour of the grass shouldn’t sacrifice playability.
The main negative I have for these courses is that they always ask for too much money for their green fees. During the off-season you can play courses like Verrado, Troon North, Wildfire, Ambiente, Etc for the same price......and those courses are another level.
I understand it’s part of the resort/casino so they jack up the rates but at the end of the day there are much better courses for around the same price.
Devil’s Claw on Labor Day
The course was in very condition for being this late in the summer. Pace of play was great as we finished just over 4 hours. We had lunch afterward and the food was very good and the prices were appropriate for the area.
Another good day
Never fails...course was in good shape, greens were very good. Sun track to play
