About Thunder Bay Resort

The Thunder Bay Resort in Hillman is known for its fall and winter elk-viewing sleigh rides, which end at a grand feast inside a hunter's cabin. Summer visits involving golf come recommended, too. Deluxe suites in the lodge are spacious with kitchenettes and a separate living area just a short walk from the clubhouse and restaurant. Villas, chalets and log home can also be rented. Owner Jack Matthias designed the 6,712-yard course himself and added an RV park.

A Fun Course!

Great value for the money! We played from the white tees our first time and from the black our second. The course was in great shape. Definitely off the beaten path, but I'm planning to come back and play again.

Good Course

I had no idea what to expect from this golf course, but it turned out to be a very nice experience. The staff was friendly. The driving range is quite a bit away from number one and the ground at the range was a little rough, but once we were on the course, nothing but excellent fairways and greens. Course knowledge probably would make a six shot difference, so make sure to read the score card hints or use the in cart GPS they provide and click on pro tips. I do not know when I will get up to Hillman again, but if I do, I would be very happy to play Thunder Bay again.
