?A friend & I played there after work on June 27. We will not be back. While the greens are in great shape, the fairways are in poor condition and will take a lot of work to get then playable. I don't like hitting off hardpan dirt or clumps of crabgrass - if you do then this place is amazing. I know this is now under Walters Golf Management and in a year or 2 will be a nice place to play - and with a price of 18 holes for $20 with a cart this was a good deal. However, the heat was oppressive and with no wind we quit after 9 holes. Because the course is still being renovated there was no real clubhouse and no place to get a drink and relax. By the end of the season it will be more functional - and the renovation is entirely necessary - but I will not be back until they are finished with the upgrade. This could be a really nice course, but needs a lot of care and rebuilding the holes. Fairways are non-existent, but the greens are very nice.
Horrible condition
Fairways full of crabgrass and bare spots. The worst condition of any course I played this year.
Lost their fairways
I began playing Oak Valley (Union Hills) last Spring. I have played the course a number of times and though the cart paths and bunkers need work, I have always liked the layout and the large, tough, greens.
When we played this Saturday, I was amazed at the poor condition of most of the fairways. I wonder if they put down the wrong fertilizer or something as they were in truly horrible shape.
With the hot summer months, I don't anticipate a resurgence in grass growth. They're only going to get worse and that's too bad. Good course but poor conditions right now.
I hope they can recover as I know they've been putting money into a new clubhouse but you've got to fix your fairways first!
Very poor shape. Greens were decent, though. Played there for years. Not worth what the fees are. Right now worth 15 or 20 bucks max.
Under construction
We were not informed of the poor conditions of the course prior to reservation
Good round
Greens in very good condition. Some fairways totally washed out. 13 best fairway. Good value.
Disappointed
This course is in terrible shape. They raised the price this year and it's in the worst shape in 25 years. I asked for a rain check for the back 9 since the coarse was almost unplayable on the front. The person at the counter said they would have them call me because they can't approve rain checks. 5 days later...no call. I understand it takes time to get it back in shape but there are no signs stating the shape of the course prior to paying your money. New ownership should be ashamed of themselves for this greed.
Working on Improvements
The course has lost most of the fairways, although the greens and rough were in decent shape. This course should be back in shape by next season as you can see the efforts to rebuild in action.
Non existent fairways
The fairways were horrible no grass except on three of them the greens were good
Greens in real good shape. Fairways are dead making it a waste of time and money. You can find plenty of $25 courses in much better shape. I usually play here multiple times a year, probably not this year.
Bad shape
Lots of construction going on and course is like a cow patch.
No grass on course
Course was under construction and no grass on any holes.
They should NOT have customers play on the field if the course is not ready to play. Too greedy to make money of people who doesn't know the course condition.
Hope no more people play on this course until they make the field ready for play. No more play on dirt!!
potential
We discovered this track last year, and like the lay out, as well as the condition of the course. We played yesterday, and it appears that someone botched a chemical application to the course - most tee boxes and fairways are dead, and i don't think it is just a function of the grass not waking up for the Spring- - you can see the spray lines and there is dead and green grass along a straight line- - Looks like some great progress being done on the facilities- - the new owner is definitely investing some money. We were planning on making this a regular course for us, but will probably try it again in a month to see if they have been able to revive the course
The fairways were dead they are Bermuda which doesn’t work here in St. Louis needs to be changed
here comes the sun
fairways and tee boxes need Mother Nature's help-water for players not out on course as of yet(sad emoji here), bunkers...well its been raining a lot and blah blah blah. This course has a great layout and great potential!
Old union hills
The newer owner has left the Walters Management group and seems to be putting much needed $ back into the course. There are new retaining walls going in on par 3's the restaurant and bar are being remodeled. If they airate fertilize the whole course including the rough this could be brought back as one of the better public courses In the St. Louis area
