I wish it was better
It was great because we had the course to ourselves. I feel like they need to close the course for a little bit and get it In better shape. It could be a great course if it was kept up. Definitely not worth the 50-60 bucks they charge. Either come down on price or renovate the course.
Greens are gone
This course should be closed, greens are gone, they don’t even take care of the sand traps, hard chunks in traps. I really felt like I got ripped off. I’ve played this course for as long as it has been there ,I’m surprised at how they’ve let it go down. I should get a refund!
Golf
The course was in great shape considering the season. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. Pace of play was very good. Not my first time and will not be my last.
While the golf course is still open for play, we are aware that current conditions are not ideal and this is due to a variety of reasons, including our mid-February historically low temperatures. What we are experiencing is not an isolated situation, and many golf courses throughout Texas are seeing the same challenges in recovering their course conditions.
The resort has an aggressive fertilization and maintenance plan in place to assist in restoring the golf course, in particular the greens, to a much better playing condition. We are optimistic that once temperatures reach a consistent low of 70 degrees, our efforts will take root and our course will once again become an ideal place to play and provide the perfect Margaritaville golf experience that you truly deserve.
Our team appreciates your patience during this time, and looks forward to seeing you here often in the future... and to sunnier days ahead!

What does that have to do with the course review?

in need of care
Course looks neglected In dire need of care. Cart Paths in bad shape
Great layout but course is tired
This course has a great layout and a lot of potential, but like a number of other reviewers, the resort needs to let the course take 6 months off while they re-seed the tees, fairways and greens. A number of bare spots around the course, including on the greens (it looked like the resort had just put down some new seed on those areas). Bunkers were bare and we played as GUR. The price we paid for the conditions was fair -- not much different than a so-so or worse muni. Pace of play was great - the family teed off at 2 pm and finished 18 holes by 5:40.
If the resort would spend the money to redo the tees, fairways, bunkers, and greens, this could be a top-50 public course in Texas. The resort could then raise the rack rate by 40-50%. Otherwise, this course is only worth playing on a twilight or hot deal rate at best.
Very good value for your money
Even though the greens are in rough shape due to winter the layout is worth the visit. Bunkers are not being kept due to Covid so no rakes are available , the player has the option to play it as it lies or deem it GUR and play it from the nearest point of relief.
It’s ok I guess
The course lay out was okay, the course conditions were also average. Some greens needed some work and the cart paths are rugged. I don’t think I would ever pay full price to play here I’d have to catch it on hot deals.
Very disappointed
Farways had very little grass, bunkers were mud and more dirt than sand, first two greens were very sad some of the others had weed growth.
I expected a very nice course based on playing there several years ago.
Wet but very good
Wet play made it hard but the layout is so good it is still a fsir test. Greens need a little love.
I am not saying people are lying but there is no way you could ever rate this course in excellent condition
This course needs to be put to bed it is tired. Greens are horrible and that is being nice. Fairways are over grown need to be trimmed way back to let some grass grow. The people describing it as narrow are technical correct but they are narrow because of lack a maintenance. Tee boxes are ugly and hard you can break a tee trying to put it in the ground. Nothing is good looking about this course at all. I really wanted to like it and have a cool place to play on the lake. If any money was put into this course when it was purchased I don’t see where they spent it. The price to play this course is laughable really. Green overrun with crab grass, I am glad I played during the winter the mud puddles they use for water hazards look like a haven for snakes. Beware
