Sonesta Bee Cave
About Sonesta Bee Cave
The Sonesta Bee Cave is located 20 minutes west off Austin off Highway 71 in the Hill Country Galleria, home to a collection of shops, bars and restaurants. There is no golf course onsite but there is shuttle service to the nearby Lakeway golf courses, including public Falconhead Golf Club, and the hotel does have some limited access to the private courses at the Clubs of Lakeway. The Sonesta Bee Cave features a large, outdoor courtyard pool, 10,000 square feet of meeting space and a 5,300 square foot ballroom. Lake Travis is minutes away where a marina can be accessed, and world-famous Hamilton Pool is also a short drive away. A highlight of the Sonesta Bee Cave is not only the galleria shops and restaurants but the hotel's own rooftop Meridian 98, which features cocktails and specialty plates in a lively setting that hosts live music.Facts

Great Course
Falcon head is where you want to play to sharpen your game! Each hole is unique and challenges you to do more than just tee off with your driver. Love this course. Great place to test that handicap 🤝🏽
Great greens, pace issues
I live near this course and decided to get a few rounds in. I’ve played it five or six times in the last 3-4 weeks. It’s a good course and greens and fairways in good to great shape. My issue is with the pace of play. I’ve averaged 5 and half hours per round and for the premium $ green fees that’s not acceptable. What’s more, tee boxes are very muni like. Tee times are nine minutes apart but should be more. There isn’t much of a clubhouse experience but the range and chipping area are quite good (although range balls are extra)!
Also, I prefer walking and course does not offer a walking rate while frequently having cart path only restriction. All gas carts too which are too loud!
I’m all for premium rates given the greens and layout but they gotta adress the pace of play and consider a walking rate.
Pace of play
While the coarse was in fantastic shape the pace of play was completely ridiculous. To start went to the driving range where I don’t know if they had a camp or something going on but there was like 10 kids all around 10 running around screaming throwing things and making it very hard to warm up and concentrate. Then got to the coarse again it was in amazing shape which made me even more mad about the pace of play. I literally sat on every tee box for 15-20 minutes sometime 3 groups deep on 1 tee box. After the 9th hole I went to the clubhouse to get a snack and coke giving the group in front of me some time to move on. After 30min I got to tee and saw that they had not even hit their second shot. At that point I had had enough packed up my stuff and left. Will go back but they have some serious work todo with play management.
Beautiful course
It’s only a few days into spring and course was perfect and green. Greens were a little slow but pure and not much play on them. Fairways were perfect. Just moved here I’d consider trying their membership.
Never Again
After a nearly 6 hour round, Falconhead is on the pay no mind list. It wasn’t just one problematic group, the whole course was at a standstill all day. Charging north of $150 for a weekend round with no marshall or on course supervision is inexcusable. The course was also in noticeably worse condition than previous times I’ve played it - very dry for this early in the season. Range balls aren’t included, however the bucket that I bought got stuck in the automated range feeder after I hit about six of them. Course layout has a lot of potential, but honestly there are many courses that are better value with reasonable pace of play in the area.
Fun course
Played with a member for the first nine, which was nice since there are quite a few blind fairway shots. The course was in good shape and the staff was very nice.
Better then stars
This was a great course. Came to Austin from Madison wisconsin to play golf and am glad I chose this place for 1 of the days
Life is good
had a great round playing with my 38 yr old son. Course pace was excellent and each hole brought unique challenges.
18 holes at falconhead golf
Great golf course in excellent shape. Very friendly and cardio staff. Beverage availability, and snacks on the course are excellent. Would recommend some number of range balls be included with the Golf play.
Falconhead Golf-Austin
Great staff and course. Met my adult son here for a round. We both like this course!
Only suggestion is that for the price a medium or large range ball bucket should be included. Also Credit card option technology should be an option at the ball dispensery since it is quiet a walk to the pro shop .
Nice course - but Pace of Play issues
Nice, well maintained course but pace of play issues. Course just hard enough to slow play down. Little or no supervision on the course.
Not very welcoming, course fine, play very slow
Need i say more? Starters were not friendly at all, driving range not open until 10 just on Wed am's- feels luke a municipal course - and not cheap .
Beautiful course
I definitely was challenged and enjoyed the clever design. First time playing it with my son. Had a blast.
Greens are punched and sanded
They need to to inform people when this is happening. It was auto 2 Putt today. No chance of getting the ball in the hole. This is one of my favorite courses in Austin. But when the greens are punched. Seems like the grounds crew did a lazy job with it.
