Sonesta Bee Cave
About Sonesta Bee Cave
The Sonesta Bee Cave is located 20 minutes west off Austin off Highway 71 in the Hill Country Galleria, home to a collection of shops, bars and restaurants. There is no golf course onsite but there is shuttle service to the nearby Lakeway golf courses, including public Falconhead Golf Club, and the hotel does have some limited access to the private courses at the Clubs of Lakeway. The Sonesta Bee Cave features a large, outdoor courtyard pool, 10,000 square feet of meeting space and a 5,300 square foot ballroom. Lake Travis is minutes away where a marina can be accessed, and world-famous Hamilton Pool is also a short drive away. A highlight of the Sonesta Bee Cave is not only the galleria shops and restaurants but the hotel's own rooftop Meridian 98, which features cocktails and specialty plates in a lively setting that hosts live music.Facts

Greens
Greens and tee boxes are horrific especially for how expensive the green fees are. Would stay away for a while.
Ok
Fairways is great condition… greens, bunkers, tee boxes poor. Pace if play was slower than expected for evening round.
Horrible greens
Do not play here. I couldn’t believe that I was going to have to pay $130 for the worst greens I’ve played in Texas. I even called before to make sure the greens were in good shape. Pro shop was answered by a kid who was like uh yah I think they’re good. Full of disease and in horrible shape. Asked the groundscrew what is going on and they said it’s an issue with their overseed. If that’s the case then change the price to play $60 until the problem is fixed.
OVR great if under 100$
Course is in pretty nice shape 2 has a fungus eating the green besides that course is in good shape
Overpriced, Dead Greens, Good Course
Falconhead is a fun course but their prices are steep, especially as their losing greens in the summer heat. Since Greyrock has closed for renovation they've raised their prices, I understand the economics, but don't respect the ethics of it. Charging players who choose to walk the same rate as those who use a cart is also a questionable ethical decision. Sunk cost with cart lease, sure, but walkers are easier on the course and cause less maintenance work from the grounds crew. The foot bridges across waterways are completely unsafe if they even exist at all. Still a good course and a place you can get early time so I'll be back, but this place could treat walkers better.
Great day
As usual Falconhead delivered....
Even in the middle of the summer the course was in great shape.
Greens need work
A lot of the greens need work and the sprinklers came on when we still had 5 holes to play
Great course, a bit overpriced
Falconhead is a challenging and unique course but is a tad overpriced for what is offered. Some greens were in very poor conditions. During my most recent outing the sprinklers were also turned on with plenty of daylight, and 4 holes left to play. Finished my round a little wetter than I had wished.
Could have been better
Played late in the day…It’s a good course, it was in pretty bad condition. Greens were thin and banged up pretty bad. Tee boxes were pretty torn up. Bunkers were in bad shape. Fairways were pretty good.
Disappointed because it’s usually in much better condition.
Nice course nice staff slow play
I played ob 7/3. Staff is friendly facilities are nice, however the course allowed a group of 5, One was supposed to just watch apparently. The group was warned 3x by the starter. The 5th guy was clearly playing taking 10+ min per green. Really frustrating to wait on every approach because a group is clearly breaking the basic rules of golf and have the group not removed from the course. Would re rate in future but for now I’m not gonna pay 130 to watch a group of 5 screw off in 100 degree plus heat and ruin a round. Mgmt needs to let the marshals remove groups from the course that don’t respond to warnings. I can play courses of similar quality for less
Slow play
The course, frankly, is too difficult for average to high handicapped golfers. That is why it was over a 4 1/2 hour round. Slow play (anything over 4 hours) is a game-killer.
not worth the fee
Nice fairways, decent greens, but the tee boxes (blue tees) were horrible. Seems they haven't moved the tee markers in weeks. 20 feet forward or back, or even 10 feet to a side - great grass. Also disappointed that the maintenance around the greens has definitely slipped. Far too many bare areas. For a $124 green fee, much better conditions should be provided. Teravista, Avery Ranch, and Star Ranch are less expensive with better conditions.
Disappointing Customer Service Response
I sprained my knee on Sunday morning so called the pro shop to cancel my 1:39pm round as I was unable to play. The gentlemen at the pro shop referenced I was within the 24 hr cancel policy but would make a note under the circumstances and not charge me - he was very nice. Later that evening I got an e-mail from GolfNow I was being billed $240 for my round due to the late cancellation. I contacted GolfNow to relay my conversation with the pro shop and asked for waiving of the bill. GolfNow contacted Falconhead who then refused citing the cancellation policy. I'm very disappointed by this response and not planning on returning.
Pace of Play
It took 5+ hrs to finish the round with a group of experienced (low handicap) golfers. We had to wait on the group in front of us (every shot), ridiculous.
Beautiful course
Course was in great shape. Love the layout here and they have a great practice facility. Only saw the cart girl once so that was a drag since there was little to no water in the coolers on the course.
Nice layout
I thought the course was in pretty good shape. Staff was friendly
