Golf Odyssey, June 2019

Welcome to the June, 2019 issue of Golf Odyssey. Our feature story is on Big Cedar Lodge and the new Coore-Crenshaw design, Ozarks National. We also head to the Bahamas and visit Abaco Club on Winding Bay, and head north to Vermont to visit Stowe. Our latest column from architecture Bradley S. Klein is on why keeping score during your rounds might not be the best idea.
How much more enjoyable would golf be if you played the game rather than worked at it? That’s my way of saying that I find a round to be much more enjoyable if I focus on hitting quality shots rather than turning in a low (for me) score.

On August 5, you can join thousands of golfers from all across the country by teeing off in the ninth annual World’s Largest Golf Outing charity golf tournament. It’s a great opportunity to support a worthy cause as you play a public access or private club you might not otherwise experience. The event, the brainchild of Billy Casper Golf CEO Peter Hill, benefits the Fisher House Foundation and its network of comfort homes that provide free temporary housing for the families of military personnel and veterans receiving care at military and VA medical centers. There are 82 Fisher Houses in the U.S., the United Kingdom, and Germany.
