Super fun course. Vacation golf like you want it!
Higuera is arguably the 3rd or 4th best course in the Puerto Vallarta area. While the layout is interesting, some holes are a bit bland and lack challenge, the overall experience is fantastic! What it lacks in top tier golf course architecture, it more than makes up for in fun factor! Few oceanside holes, 2 comfort stations where made for you tacos, beers, refreshments, snacks, tequila & mezcal are all included in the price. The 19th hole is a really cool hang spot, the range and staff and overall quality of hospitality are all top notch. You can find a better golf course to play golfer's golf at in PV, but you can't find a more fun place to play with your buddies and enjoy a day in the sun on a really nicely done course. Note, this course has new ownership and they've done an outstanding job rehabbing what was a kinda scrubby course before the took over.
Fun but not if you pay full price.
Great layout and beautiful views. Do your best to get a golfnow special. The cost to play is way over priced if you dont.
One of a kind for this area
Best condition it has been in many years. Excellent fairways and lush but slow greens on the day we played. That takes a bit of getting used to. No waste of water on areas off fairways, so they are dry and yellow. Good idea to stay on fairways😀🙏
Buen campo, pero no hace justicia el precio.
El campo es bueno pero me parece que el staff podria ser mas amable y el precio debería incluir más que solo dos mini tacos y dos cervezas
Great course
We loved everything about the course. The staff were great. The course layout is pretty solid. The greens were terrific. A bit pricey, but that’s Mexico Mexico would do well to lower their price and most of their courses they will attract more players. As it is now, there’s a lot of open teetimes nobody’s playing. Nobody wants to pay the price. Too pricey.
Buyer beware
Way overpriced, be careful of the currency when booking. As a Canadian using my app I was not expecting the high $285 green fee to be in US dollars. $500 Canadian with club rental and a cart is outrageous.
Don’t keep promises
Over all golf experience was great do to hole in one experience. How ever they promised a gift which they did not keep. It’s not the value but the fact is they didn’t keep that promise. Lay out was great but green conditions were very good for the money. Over all I would come again if there was a great deal.
Like putting in you back yard
You’re kidding right. Thank goodness I teed off at 1pm rate. Putter with one hand, greens were shaggy and lowest I’ve ever played on.
El Higuera
Course is fun. It’s a bit pricey and I’m not sure why there isn’t more deals available as it was pretty empty. The greens were pretty slow. But overall it was in good shape
Even better than last year
Love this layout and this course. Greens, tees and fairways are some of the best around. Staff is fantastic especially Sergio, Julian, Martin and Peter.
The tacos are unreal on hole 4 and 14.
We finally saw one of the little crocs on the island green 8th hole.
Can’t wait to be back.
Good Layout
There were definitely some positives to our round at Higuera. The staff is nice, and the two comfort stations are AWESOME! The 4th hole is right near the beach and is really spectacular. The view is improved by the delightful bartender making tacos and mixing drinks near the tee box.. Grab a few beers and a margarita. It's all included! There is also a comfort station on 14 tee. more tacos and drinks there. Since the course was basically empty we were able to enjoy the food drink and views without rushing.
The layout of the course is very good, lots of fun holes with mostly generous fairways and not many hazards. The 4th and 17th holes are picturesque downhill par 3s. Par 5s are gettable, and there is a good mix of long and shorter par 4s. Higuera is a fun resort course.
Unfortunately I have a hard time getting over the course rates based on the conditions we played on. The fairways were ok, but anything in the rough was basically unmaintained. Bunkers were not in good shape and had not been cared for in awhile. The biggest problem was the greens. Front 9 greens were mostly smooth, but painfully slow. On the back 9 it appeared that aeration had taken place recently. The greens on the back 9 had not been mowed in awhile. It was basically the same conditions as the fairways. Basically you could not actually putt on those greens. We were not notified of the greens conditions when we booked, and were charged full price for the round. They are getting over $200 US, and based on the conditions that is far too much. Even with the free food and drink, I couldn't drink enough to make the price worth it. Maybe play again for $100, but that would be a stretch.
I'm glad we got to sqeeze in a round during a great PVR vacation, but I will be looking for a different option in the area if I return. Hopefully this was a one off for the conditions and they will be making improvements, especially on the greens.
This is too good of a layout to just let it go.
