The ocean nine might be the most scenic of the three loops at Palmilla. Photo submitted by JasonDeeganGA on 02/12/2014
Really bad
Grass is dead. You are only allowed to play 9 holes of the 27 on property. This is not clear when booking; GolfNow still shows an 18 hole rate. The cost for these 9 holes is $189. You can play the same dead 9 holes again for $90 if you want… they could make it zero and I wouldn’t play them again; Greens are barely puttable, grainy, slow. The people are great. They opened early and made a breky burrito for me. Free beer. The back tees were closed so the holes are short and easy, but this has become a dog track.
Maintenance Season
We played one 9 twice as two of the nines were under maintenance. The summer had browned a few areas of the course, but it still played very well. The clubhouse staff was great and the comfort stations were excellent. the right time of year and 2 nines I'd give it 5 stars.
Only Ocean open
Only the Ocean open so played twice. Staff great but disappointing.
Course was dry but not bad.
Great views! Excellent service!
The club house crew was friendly and loaded our rental clubs and drinks for us. Course was challenging and in decent condition. Loved the experience!
Ocean course and Cabo disappoinment...
This is actually a two-part review. One for the ocean course. Other for golf in Cabo in general. First, as to the ocean course, what you need to understand is that there are three nine-hole courses at this resort. Up until a few months ago The general public could play all three courses. Now. The other two courses are reserved for members and resort guests only. Which means if you want to play 18 holes you have to play the same nine holes twice. I had played the other two courses a few months ago and enjoyed them very much. But I hadn't played the ocean course so I figured if there was nine holes I wouldn't mind playing twice. It would be that one. First problem is that probably due to the time of the year the course was in less than desirable condition. Fairways were scalded and burned out. The greens were okay. As far as being an ocean course, there's really only one hole that goes down close to the water. Besides that, it's not really an ocean course. Dion course food was good. But I can safely say that due to the conditions of the course and the availability of only nine holes, I would never go back again.
As to the larger and more concerning issue, having cobble be a golf trip destination. I've been going down there for many years and have played nearly all of the best courses the area has to offer. I've never been disappointed it really. The problem now is that almost every single one of the top tier courses is affiliated with a particular resort group. So in order to play that course you have to stay at one of their properties or be a member. We're talking about quivira, Cabo del Sol cove club which used to be the ocean course, diamante, Querencia,....Unlike my golf trips to the Palm springs area or Maui or South Carolina or Vegas where you can play several really nice courses no matter where you stayed. I understand The reasoning behind keeping a course exclusive for resort guests. But in the long run, it's going to create issues for people who want to go to a nice area and play multiple nice courses. Hopefully All of these courses will be able to get together and figure out a game plan that will work for the industry overall and not just them individually.
Most Scenic Course I have ever played!
This course was a gem. I have never played anywhere more scenic and the pacific breeze was second to none! Javier from the staff was so professional and had the best stories! If you love ocean golf you will not be disappointed in Las Palmas!!
Top course
Great friendly staff . Comfort stations stocked with many options! Very enjoyable course to play . Highly recommend
Not best course
Greens were horrible. Not kept up with crab grass . Worst course we’ve played here
Overpriced for the condition of the course.
Course was dry, full of weeds, and the greens were slow and had significant ball damage. The weeds in the greens were uniquely bad. Don't think I had a putt that rolled true all day. It was so surprising to see such an upscale development and amenities, with such poor course management and care for the greens. The residents must be very frustrated with the course condition. I will not return.
The One & Only ????
First Time To "The One & Only"
They only offered 9 holes on their "Ocean" course, which is all i had time for anyway.
The staff is incredibly attentive.
Driving range was nice with new balls.
The practice green was horrible with three different strains of grass growing on it. Hummm, i hoped it was not a sign of what was to come. The course winds its way down across the highway and to the ocean, Incredible views so you just take it in and ask yourself how lucky can one be. Right?
Hardly anyone on the course so pace of play was non issue, after four holes the "cantina" had many options for drinks & food all included with green fees. The only real negative was the condition of the course, it was playable and greens held shots, but this is a "Troon" managed gold facility. Dana cant still be running the company, can he? nevertheless, i've worked in many aspects of the business, including on the course. I know what i am looking at, and when you see water in the bunkers at 2:00 in the afternoon and cups that have been changed by a six year old and then not for 4 or 5 days, you kind wonder what the members think. I think they should have a meeting with Troon NOW! and demand better. IMO
One and Only Golf Experience
While I’ve golfed at many high end courses before, Palmilla GC was far and away the best experience I’ve had to date. The service, flexibility and attention to details was more than one would get at the best private club around. The three 9’s format allows for a multi day experience with very different layouts. I’ll be back again someday soon
Wonderful and fun couse
Still building the club house and 18 fairway was having work done 10/30/24. Other then that it is a great course and fairways are like hitting off velvet. Food and drinks are included. Pro shop is pricey...if in Cabo area highly reccommend this course.
Great experience
Dispite the storm damage which the course was actively working on, loved this challenging course. I would like to return to play all three 9 holes again as I now know some of the :"tricks.:
Peaceful and quiet day of golf
Went out 1/2 hour before my tee time at noon. Had the courses absolutely to myself. Saw only 6 other golfers throughout my 18 holes. The comfort station on Arroyos was a wonderful addition. I know it’s still off season but the place was eerily quiet and peaceful. Thoroughly enjoyed my day
