Nothing special
I really don't understand why this course makes it onto lists of best courses to play in Puerto Vallarta. It really isn't anything special. Even if it was in good shape, Which it wasn't - the greens are burnt out and in bad shape, it still wouldn't be worth the money.
Course okay. Greens need work.
Layout okay. Several holes about same shape. Good use of water throughout. Tees level. Greens worse part. Lots of spots with grass loss and lots of edges bare. Trying to find another course in better shape.
A divine track in bad condition
If you like visual stimulation and a great degree of varied holes this is a place you'll love! Unfortunately, the greens are in bad shape (lots of burned out edges and and hills). Lots of dead spots in the fairways and generally lackluster rough. I have played here for over 8 years on an annual basis and this is the WORST condition I've ever seen this gem in.
Although it is a super track, I would put my money elsewhere until they repair the unfortunate condition.
Solid layout with terrible maintenance.
I have played this track almost a dozen times and this was absolutely the most horrific condition I've ever seen. Burnt out greens (almost 20% of most), torn up tee boxes and a lot of dead spots on the low areas equaled a less than satisfying experience.
I gave this track a 4+ last year but they have obviously decided being in Mexico is enough to overcharge and underproduce. Sad to say the least.
Go to any other $100+ course in the area or just simply play a video game............. but if you pay the green fee here you are going to be disappointed (or in my case just plain angry).
Tame the Tiger
I booked the GolfNow Hot Deal time at 1:40 pm which can be challenging to finish, but as it turned out we played easily in under 3.5 hours. Greens looked not so good but rolled out better than expected. The course is working on the green side bunkers and the new white sand is beautiful but very challenging to play out of.
Enjoyed the course
The course was great, challenging but not so hard that it wasn’t fun. Greens were ok and looked like some work was ongoing. The staff was very friendly and accommodating would definitely come back again.
1st time to El Tigre
Was a great experience for both myself and my wife, track was challenging. Greens left a little to be desired as far as condition went but overall a great experience.
El Tigre has teeth!
Great practice range. Lots of variety on the course. Challenging approach shots. Fairways are accessible.
Day with My Son
Tight course with beautiful layout. Water features, surrounding homes, waste bunkers, all in all....had a great day.
Sad Greens
Unfortunately the course was damaged by the hurricane and rain this summer and is still in recovery mode. Greens and bunkers are not in good shape. The maintenance staff are obviously trying to improve them but it will take time. All staff excellent as usual.
