Slope is incorrect!
Nice location, staff were friendly. I don’t write many reviews mainly because golf is a great game and it shouldn’t matter whether you like it or not more that we should be thankful we get to play lol... This said, this course was surprising similar to something that would have been built to almost out people off playing, the slope rating, which the staff seemed proud to tell you, is rated way lower than what it is ‘officially’ and this is apparently to keep newbies like me coming to play. Honestly, the course is very difficult, the conditions albeit is April so potentially winter, were pretty poor with some bunkers unable to even be penetrated with a full iron swing, honestly they should be completely out of action. There is water on 13 out of 18 holes and the greens are ok. I’m really sorry to say as I’ve wanted to play this course for years, that I won’t be back
Good value; good course
The GolfNow Hot Deal made El Tigre an excellent value. The practice facility is excellent; the course is interesting. The staff was quite friendly and efficient.
Excellent value through the hot deals I'm gone now
One of the nicest courses inn the area. Good test of golf especially when the wind is up. Excellent layout and good cnurse conditions. In would highly recommend this cnurse.
Challenging Par 3’s
It can get quite windy in the afternoon so the par 3’s which are all well protected by sand or water ( or both) play long. Plenty of water running along the fairways force you have control of your driver. My only knock on the course is the sand in the green side bunkers ( I know you are not supposed to be in them) is very inconsistent. It runs between soft and hard packed.
Great course on a beautiful day
We really enjoyed playing el tigre again. The staff is great and very helpful. The course is in excellent shape except for the sand traps. Most of the traps are very hard and seem to not have much sand in them. Tees, fairways, and greens are great. Putts roll very true and the greens are quick. All the water makes for a challenge for all levels of golf. Too bad the restaurant closes before the last players are off the course. Green fees in PV are ridiculous unless you can get in on golfnow bookings. So thanks Golfnow.
Very good golf course
Will challenge all levels. The wind picks up in the afternoon which is when we played. My wife played from the reds and she really enjoyed it. All in all a very good well kept course.
Ernesto
Challenging with water and sand but fair. Greens good. Sand a little firm.
Great round
First time at El Tigre , enjoyed the experience , challenging layout but fair , great condition and pace of play at 4hrs 20 mins starting at 1.30 pm . Will definitely be back again .
Fun time with a good friend
Booked with golf now which made the course reasonable. Good shape but not pristine. One of the original courses in PVR. May try again another time but prefer some of the others.
Worth playing if in Puerto Vallarta
Had a fun day playing El Tigre. Pace of play was excellent playing in 3.5 hours. We were only a twosome and other groups in front were very courteous letting us pass at times. Booked through golf now which for around $70 I thought was good value in comparison to other courses in the area. Would recommend if you’re looking to play on PV area.
Such a pretty course.
The course is in wonderful shape. They are applying lots of water to keep it green. It was challenging but fun. Lots of wild life on the premises. Greens were fair..just a little hard. Our tee time was twilight golf so that was understandable. We will definitely be back again.
Great value if you played afternoon
The course was quiet in the afternoon so Starter will let u out early. We tee'd off at 1:00 and finished by 3:45ish.
I recommend this course and will play again!
Good value for the golfnow online price... wouldn't consider paying the rack price for the course.
Not bad not great
First time playing golf in Mexico, rates are pretty expensive without a deal. Haven’t really played golf in Mexico to be able to compare courses. Grass was fairly dry and burnt, not your normal lush green grass, but can’t expect much from Mexico. The staff where great and friendly as well as helpful. The bunkers are more of gravel then sand on most of them... also some bunkers are almost as wide as the fairway which I didn’t love. Some hole are beautiful though with a arrangement of water bunkers and hills. Was a difficult course, if your looking for a better time of not hacking in sand/gravel this is not the course for you, but if your on a resort without sand come to this course you’ll be on the beach most the time ;).... there are a couple bengal tigers at hole 17 tee box, was a mistake showing the ladies that where with us them cause they cried about them being locked up in there “secured natural habitat” which is a small cage for 3 tigers. I got the gimmick the ladies hated it. Overall a decent course. Staff where awesome. Get a deal if your paying to come here. The club Sammy was the best Sammy ive ever had in the world lol also if you like ceasars the cart ladies made great ones not your typical Mexican Bloody Mary/Caesar
Thanks for reading. Enjoy.
Will Return
Challenging but not "tricked out"
Very good for medium to low index golfers
