View, weather, course, excellent! Photo submitted by springlake on 12/12/2012
This course has some great views and interesting holes.
Some of the greens were in bad shape and there was standing water in many of the sand traps. Also, the sand traps were "dirt" traps not sand.
Didn’t appreciate comments
We were reminded by more than one employee that we had purchased our round on Golf Now. Because of this, we weren’t allowed to check-in until 15 minutes before our tee-time. Even though we did not ask to tee-off early, we were told that we could NOT tee-off early because we purchased our round on Golf Now. We did not appreciate being treated like second class golfers. Wonder why this golf course enrolled with GN as they obviously aren’t thrilled with golfers who use this service? Canoa Ranch is a great course, however, most of the greens were in poor condition.
Great course
Beautiful layout, views are amazing from tee box. Challenging layout. A few greens need maintenance but the overall experience is fun and challenging.
Great track!
We've played this course many times over the past 13 years and despite the poor condition of some of the greens, it's still a GV favorite!
Not sure what happened to the greens this season but some of the ones on the front 9 especially are basically unplayable so we used the '2 putt' rule on those.
They seemed to improve as the day went on and the t boxes, fairways, aprons are all pretty good shape.
We played on a Saturday and we're told there might be some slow play due to a few groups out there but we played in 4:25 which wasn't terrible for a weekend.
The staff is super friendly and helpful, pro shop full of lovely things and dinner after @ the Grill was delicious with a very efficient and cheerful server.
All in all, we all agreed it was a day well spent will return for another round sometime soon.
discrimination
Hot deals and golfnow people are treated much differently prior to playing the roumnd. forinstance - not allowed to check in until 15 minutes or less before your round. not allowed to goout one minute prior to your stated tee time. manager has stated thatif we pay so little that is all we deserve. When I go there I feel like a second class citizen. I do not deserve that. outright discrimination.
Canoa Ranch Golf Course - Green Valley, Arizona
My wife and I are in Green Valley for 90 days and were excited to play Canoa Ranch. The course fairways, tees, and most greens were in great shape this time of year. Apparently, the course over seeded about 3 weeks ago.
Most of the greens were good (a bit fuzzy, but, I am sure that will improve, as they are watering a lot).
I played well on the course, and will definitely be playing again in the near future. I recommend Canoa Ranch, particularly if you book through Golf Now as they allowed us to get very good greens fees!!.

Greens and sand traps still need a lot of work.
Since the over seeding the greens have been in pretty bad shape. They have added some sand to the bad spots so hopefully they will start to improve soon. Most of the sand traps are still in bad shape and have been for quite a while. A lot with standing water and gravel. A few did look good though. A work in progress I guess.
First visit
Overall condition good, a few greens in poor condition, liked layout will return
Great greens and a challenging layout
I have played Canoa Ranch many times. This course looks short but it will test all your golf skills...there are six par threes but they are not easy, but you can shoot a greet score if you par them...look out for the closing hole.. par 5 but with a mental issue to overcome.
Fun course
Greens were in fair condition. The fairways were excellent.
Beautiful course!
Very challenging layout in very good condition with the exception of the greens. These were not comparable to the rest of the course, brown, dead spots throughout. Once these are fixed , this course will be very nice. Will definitely be playing again.
Overseed of Greens did not take well.
Sadly to give this review, but Canoa Ranch overseen of the greens did not go well. There over half of their greens are showing bad and bare spots that the rye seeds never germinated. Personally, I don’t think it’s fault of their greenskeeper, but due to the untimely heavy rain from Mother Nature the week of overrseeding. It looks like seeds were washed away in large places by the rain, because there are no grass growth, So, it was disappointing to see and putt on the greens, I hope some interim repairs can be done to fix the unfortunate condition. Otherwise golfers will have to endure the damages on many greens fir remainder of new season.
Poor COnditions
Greens were mostly bare spots, after overseeding. Pace of play was awful, waiting on every tee box.
Terrible condition
I realized that the course was overseeded last month. That doesn't explain the lack of maintenance around the course. Even with a full tee the ball was barely above the grass. The greens were absolutely torn up. The course didn't bother to mention carts on path only. The driving range area was unmaintained on the open side. The other side was well maintained but closed. The greens were so slow and bumpy you had to make a full hip turn to putt 30 ft. The Marshalls would drive right up on you while you were trying to hit. All in all a miserable experience on a course that was a great experience as little as six months ago. What happened!
Good day for golf
Great course, but still early after the overseeding.
