Morning view down the Par-5 5th fairway. A strong drive, especially to the center-right fairway, sets you up to go for the green in two! Photo submitted by vmustang on 04/25/2021

Nice as usual
Great day of golf.
One of my favorite courses, love the history.
First grass course in AZ!
I’m a nerd. Had to play it when I read that it was the first grass course in AZ. I definitely recommend it but manage your expectations. The facilities are minimal, including the practice area. It is an open, tree lined course with plenty of sand and a little water. It was well maintained and definitely a value.
San Marcos
If you tend to spray the ball this is not a course for you. If you are to the left or to the right of the green they are typically bunkered on both sides. The greens are narrow and it is very difficult to clear the bunker and keep the ball on the green. Often you end up in the other bunker. Pace of play was painful. We waited on every tee box due to a foursome in front of us that were very slow and did not offer to let us play through. No ranger came around to speed up play. If this is what San Marcos wants the club to be I will not come back.
One needs to know the course seems to get a lot of Play because of that the course does get much chance to recover and is stressed from tee box to greens.
Nice place, great staff!
Very much like my home town course. The greens were firm and quick. Maybe not the sexiest course, but very playable and a good test of all phases of the game.
Overall well worth playing and will play again. Not in the greatest condition but still very enjoyable.
Lovely older course
Very nice course surrounded by older well kept neighborhood. Do need to clean up some of the debris on the sides of the fairways.
