Great Course with minor problems
My GPS did not work on my cart. There was mud in a few places and pools if water on the cart paths. I reported the GPS issue and they did not care or do anything to remedy it.
An Experience
Well worth the drive from Phoenix! First round of a boys trip and it was a perfect opener! We had a frost delay and the staff communicated well, were more than helpful and got food and drinks in our bellies. Would love to experience this place again sometimes! The course was immaculate, especially for being in the middle of the desert!
AK-CHIN, you have Riggs to thank for our visit!
Not your typical desert golf course
I had heard many great things about Southern Dunes so I was excited to play. Golf course was far from a typical desert course. The bunkering is it's only weapon and there are bunkers EVERYWHERE!! Greens were in excellent shape and the staff and service are great. Practice facility is perfect for pre round warm up. Pace of play was great and I would suggest you pick the correct tee box as the course plays long.
Not for 2 and a quarter.
I played on a Saturday at 11:40, waited excessively on the last 5 holes and still finished under 4 hours (in a 4some) which was (unfortunately) the highlight. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and refreshments weren't highway robbery. The course was not worth $225. Anything not in green grass was waaaay dead- out of the rough was totally unkept, greens were good, not great and hard to hold. Only 1 restroom. Just not a premium experience for the premium price. Why is golf in AZ so expensive?
Best in Phoenix
Challenging, great conditions and a nice vibe . Really appreciated the course design
Nice experience
Great course, excellent pace of play. Friendly staff.
Awesome day.
Best course I have played in AZ by far. Great sand in the bunkers which a lot of course lack. Best greens I have ever played on. Staff friendly and helpful in every way. Going back tomorrow..
Excellent greens and pace of play was 4 hrs
Greens in excellent condition, they don’t break as much as they look like they would. Fairways are generous and firm, bunkers well placed. Be sure to play the right tees as course plays longer than posted yardage! Greens are skinny and require precise iron approach shots. Freddy couples rewards soft cut shots from right handed players at his course, but beware don’t try to cut the doglegs too much as water and sand awaits wayward shots
Great course conditions
Southern Dunes is by far the best course in the Maricopa/ Casa Grande area. Greens, fairways, rough were in fantastic condition. Bunkers, and there are a lot of them, we're all raked and in great condition. A few tee boxes were alittle dried out but no big deal. We teed off at 2:40 knowing we probably wouldn't get 18 holes in but only missed playing the last hole so pace of play was great. Got twilight rate so the value was very good. Overall a great course, to bad the wind got up on the back 9.
