Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club

Beautiful views, challenging layout. Easy to see why the course is used for AGA and USGA qualifiers and events. Course is in GREAT shape. Very fair if you keep it in play, but you'll need every shot in your bag if you get out of position. For $100ish with tax, it's a bargain compared to other "high-end" courses, amd it puts other $100 courses to shame.

Hour drive each way for me. I will definitely play it again!

Southern Dunes was a phenomenal experience. From checking in, practice range, and course were all superb. Fairways and greens were in great shape. Plenty of beautiful scenery and wildlife on the course. Traps had soft sand. Some holes involved carry, but were no issue. Pace was exceptional and staff was fantastic. We had breakfast prior to our tee time and the food was outstanding. I recommend this course to those that want a challenge and exceptional customer service.

Course was great with a big exception of the traps. They were rock hard with no sand. If your going to charge 130.00 you can’t have traps with no sand !

Greens are slow and bunkers are dirt, no sand and mostly rocks and unplayable (as in not difficult but poor)

Consistently the best golf course in Phoenix area. I absolutely love this layout, love the conditions, and the food and beverage service and quality is very good. I wish every course in Phoenix was this good. And the price is always very good if you hunt for troon deals. Great layout. Great conditions. Players course. Lots of tees. The only criticism is sometimes the pace of play becomes too slow, especially if players are not able to handle a players layout or they play from the wrong tea boxes. But overall, my favourite course. I would play here every day.

After reseeding the greens were a tish slow, compared to my other times playing but to be expected this time of year. Course was in really good shape

This layout is always fun. This course gives you multiple options off the tee and makes it fun and different each time you lay it. Course condition is always good when we go. No reason to knit pick any issue. your in the hot barren desert, deal with it!

Tough course where distance and accuracy are highly coveted. Course was in stellar shape and the folks here are always so friendly. Only complaint was the twosome in front of me and a couple other groups that didn’t know what “playing through” meant and forced us all to watch them tee off and then search for their ball. Late afternoon, you can’t expect a ranger on a weekday but worth the drive to experience

1st time playing this course. just remember this course has a lot of bunkers so play smart!

Course was a little dry but it's been 110+ the last couple weeks so to be expected. The only issue was the carts. We were still on the fairway and got the dreaded get back on the course notice. When we tried to put in reverse or forward nothing happened. So we had to get out and try and push it to the point where it would reengage on hole 13. Mind you it's 112 degrees out and we were on a little slope and it took us almost 10 minutes. We were al wiped out after this.

Southern Dunes is a really challenging course and fun to play.

Play was a little slow on 8/10/2025 and we felt a push or two was justified.

All service personnel were friendly and we enjoyed a few drinks and food at the Arroyo Grill.

Always liked this course. The bunkers were beyond difficult as no actual sand. At least break up the hard top or put sand in. This was the only reason for the lower rating. Love everything about this place but the bunkers (which are many) are almost unplayable right now.
