Poor Conditions - Poor Customer Service

We play Orange Tree regularly because it's close to home and I generally like the layout. Because of that, I've been playing it regularly for over 20 years now. Today might have been the last straw with this place. Tee boxes are rock hard. The greens are in VERY poor shape. There is absolutely no relationship between the speed of the practice green at the clubhouse and the greens on the course. Way different. The greens have been horrible for several years now, and somehow the greenskeeping staff can not figure out how to fix the greens. The greens are without a question, the worst of any course in the area. In fact, on two of the holes, Hole 5 and Hole 16, the greens are utterly unplayable. See the attached recent Aerial Photos as evidence. It's much worse in person. There are several rotten, sand filled craters all over these greens, making putting over them absolutely impossible to play legitimately. This course has recently spent money on new golf carts and promoting their bar, but they have utterly failed in their ability to maintain course conditions, especially the greens. As a result, they are charging the same premium rates as other supposedly comparable courses, but you are nearly guaranteed a 2-shot penalty at least for being forced to play those two greens. They are horrific. FURTHERMORE, today, the Ranger drove up on my group as we were approaching the infamous 16th green. He told us that "due to new Orange Tree Policy that was just implemented this week, all golfers must pick up and abandon their games at 7pm regardless of how much sun light is left". We had enough light to play another 3 holes, yet the Ranger (older white haired man), demanded that we stop and terminate our round with two holes to play. In my 50+ years of playing this game, never have I had a Ranger terminate a match when we had 3 holes of light left. Absolutely ridiculous. What a terrible policy by Orange Tree Golf to go along with the overcharging of fees despite the terrible green conditions. The solution is simple, create temporary greens for #5 and #16 and re-build the greens. Instead, they have chosen to rip off their customers for as long as they possibly can, staying silent about their dirty little secret of poor green conditions while they squeeze out as much revenue as they can, all while fully aware of the injustice of charging what they are with the greens in such poor condition. Bottom line is this. Don't waste your money here. The playing conditions are far superior at any of the other nearby courses, Stonecreek, Starfire, Kierland, Biltmore, etc. I have put up with the poor greens for years, but tonight, being kicked off by the Ranger over this new Orange Tree Policy is absolutely deplorable. Paying these fees while knowing that the greens will absolutely cost me at least two strokes is my choice, but if I pay to play 18 holes and there is light available, I should be able to get my full money's worth and finish my round.

Standards Have Decreased

Orangetree used to be a good course. The course is now in terrible condition, much grooming is needed and putting greens are a mess.

Greens issue

Decent layout and good pace of play. Quite a few greens were in bad shape with no grass in areas creating bare/dirt spots.

Use to be nice

Orange tree used to be a nice course. The t boxes were questionable (lots of grass free areas), the fairways were ok, the greens were terrible. Many large areas on the greens with only sand.

I realize they're transitioning from winter to summer but the conditions were far beyond acceptable.

Go somewhere else!

Go somewhere else! Very disappointed in the upkeep of the course. Dead patches on most of the greens. Definitely not worth the cost. Use to be a fun well maintained course but not anymore.

Course in BAD shape

BEWARE!!! Had to go out without paying as the pro shop staff decided not to show up. Then just about EVERY green had dead patches on them making it impossible to play on the green. The fairways were worse than any cheap city course. Staff was unprofessional and didn’t care about the golfers concerns. Disappointing because it use to be a very nice and well maintained course.

Not worth the money…. Worth about $25 bucks at the most.

Note When Sanding Has Taken Place

Very dry. Greens had 'Sand Puddles' on them and not much grass. Fairways were very sparse. It is May. It has been dry and we paid a very cheap price. It was not totally unexpected but worse than I thought it would be.

Super friendly staff; open course layout

The course is very friendly to beginning in eater, intermediate level players. In the staff, especially Wayne, is super friendly.

Unfortunately, the course itself is in pretty rough shape. Where some of the greens were really really bad.

This course might have been good at one time! This should be an embarrassment to the owners and greenskeeper!

Where are they putting the green fee money ,it is not going into the course!

I will have to be paid to play here again!
