Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort

About
The course at the Orange Tree Golf Resort provides an excellent game of golf in a luxurious setting. The Parkland-style layout features fairways lined with mature trees, which not only enhance the natural beauty of the golf course but can also greatly affect shots. Four lakes are situated on the flat terrain of the course, providing water hazards that come into play on five holes. Sand bunkers also surround every green. Orange Tree Golf Resort's course finishes with its signature hole, where water cuts into the fairway and proceeds to run down the left side all the way to the green. It also requires accuracy on the approach shot in order to hit the small putting surface that is surrounded by tricky elements.

Soaking wet
This is a beautiful course. Lots of old growth. Good lay out and if your in play you should be okay. Do not wear breathable shoes. You’ll need water proof shoes. They keep this course soaking wet at all times and you can be plugged in the middle of the fairway. Green are interesting but do speed up as it drys but still pretty slow. 4 hour round is a decent pace. Rangers and staff are polite and happy to help. I just wish that they improved the drainage because my goodness it’s a swamp.
Good job
The latest superintendent of greens is making a big difference. Most of the greens have made significant progress since his arrival. Nice job improving them.
The course needs a good mow and cleanup in the rough areas. Possible rain this week prevented it from happening?
Chuck is a great starter. Very friendly.
Nothing but excuses
I’ve played this course probably 50 times in the last 20 years. The last three times I’ve been there, the pro shop wasn’t open when I showed up to pay and tee off. So I have a 6:20 teatime, at 6:10 the pro shop isn’t open. Happens over and over. The rough was so deep that you couldn’t find any golf balls. But yet pace of play is important, right?!?! I tried to give feedback the director of Golf and all he had was excuses about why he can’t do his job. It’s too bad. I love the layout. I like the course, but they have no idea how to run a golf course. Avoid it all costs. 90 bucks for a hassle and frustration, don’t do it. I will say that the starter Chuck is amazing, the woman who runs the drink cart is super friendly, the woman in the halfway house is also super friendly. This is a leadership problem not a staff problem. Please do better Orange Tree, please!
Summer time gem
The course is in great shape considering the sweltering heat. Well maintained and cared for. The sports bar has very good food and cold drinks. Play soon before they close for overseeding in September. Great rates until then!
back again
Came back after the greens were fixed. Definitely back to normal. A bit slow but rolling. Great staff and price
Returned to the Orange Tree GC
Curiosity called me to get back to play the Orange Tree GC again. Last time, a couple of months ago or so, the experience wasn't the best with fairways and greens in poor condition in the majority of the holes. What a significant change I found in the GC conditions yesterday. It's evident the efforts put to recover this GC. Fairways and greens were in very good condition, even in the middle of the AZ summer, as you should expect. Congratulations and great job to the staff that got revived this GC, and that motivates me to play it again in the future.,
Rounding into shape
Better than expected based on year over year reviews. Pleasantly surprised, very playable, all greens with exception of 16th were excellent. S little rough around the edges but nothing to be over critical about. Well done
Surprising
Course was surprisingly in decent shape. Still has its rough parts, but unbeatable for $30 in Scottsdale.
