No frills, but great golf course layout.
About an hour drive from the Valley, don’t expect paved cart paths, GPS on the carts, or a beverage cart on the course. But you can expect nice elevation changes, great course conditions form tee-to-green, and a good pace of play. I think it’s worth the drive this time of year when comparable courses in the Valley are charging between $150-$200. Friendly staff, laid back atmosphere. Perfect day.
Challenging course with elevated and undulating greens
Nice course. Long trip for us but if in the area worth trying. Decent value. Greens are what make the course challenging
Must play - worth the ride
Yes horses and golf can coexist on same ranch.
Love to cut down a few fairway trees along the way.
Treat yourself to a special day.
Arrive for an early lunch and then tee off and marvel at incredible vistas, luxurious homes and pristine conditions.
Very quick greens. Some overly difficult pin placements.
Great layout.
Always worth the drive from Phoenix to play this course. The desert, rustic old west feeling of the area is refreshing. The course is enjoyable and fun to play. Somewhat difficult so bring your A game.
Fast and Furious
I have played this course for years. They have done a magnificent job of making this course about as good as it gets. The greens are 10+. The fairways offer great roll. The roughs are fair. The bunkers are clean and well maintained. Virtually no rocks. Consistent. I have played numerous courses in the Phoenix area. I can't think of a nicer course. Great views, and spectacular pace of play. Foursome can easily beat 4 hours. We finished in 3.5 hours. Restaurant was a gem. Great, friendly service and excellent food and pricing. Here is the scary part. Los Cab is in the second year of converting their greens to Bent Grass. If they are this good now, what will they be like next year. Can't wait to find out. Thanks, Los Cab, keep it up.
Great course - Special setting
Generally I don't review places that I really like because I don't want other folks flocking to a treasure I only recently discovered. There are must play courses in the Phoenix area and this is one of them. It's not pretentious and the golf staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant and lounge folks are nice but slow. Play it more than once and it willingly gives up birdies. Bring a reasonable short game and you can have fun. Elevated, sloping and fast greens will test your putting ability - as well as your vocabulary! I didn't like the trees in the middle of the fairways on a couple of holes, but that requires challenging target shots.
It's an hour drive from my place but I will try and play once a week from here until I head north for the summer. The last we played our ladies drove up to Wickenburg, did sight seeing and shopping and then we went out to dinner.
Great golf and top notch Pro Shop staff
One of the more enjoyable courses to play. To me a "Must Play" when in the area. Be sure to bring your short game. All the staff make sure you feel welcome.
A beautiful and well designed course, with great mountain views.
We had played the course in the fall after over seeding, and recently in late February. February was more difficult as many raised greens had very thin grass on steep slopes and balls wold not hold in the rough. The fast greens compounded this problem; hard to hold balls on the green before they descended the downslopes.
Out of the way gem.
Played course by myself so did not have home field advantage. Found the course had some average holes but more often had many enjoyable challenging holes. Course was in good shape, greens rolled true, although every green was elevated with a back to front slope. Suggest add another 5-7 yards to each approach shot. Paul a grounds worker was very welcoming. Played this course and Wickenburg Country Club---my preference is this course for the following reasons ( friendlier, better conditions, nicer driving range, less blind shots, overall better experience.
Great course
We had a great round. Big fairways and in great shape. Greens were fast but fair. The pro shop gave us a book for the course and it was very helpful . We plan on playing this course again. Nice club house for a meal before or after game.
fun course
Nicer track than Wickenburg CC. Recommend playing when in area.
UP AND DOWN
If you prefer a more traditional course layout, this is not the course. Greens 20+ feet up on hills, miss it by 2 feet and your all the way down at the bottom. I didn't see any windmills or dinosaurs. Greens were 13+ the day I played.
I'm not a scratch player so probably won't be back. Too much work.
This review is no way intended to be negative, just my perspective from a avid golfer with about a 10 handicap. All the staff was great.
excellent course...fast greens with lots of slope
Course not super pristine but very good...greens were very good and probably at 12 with lots of slope...will really test your putting speed...excellent value
Amazing!
The course conditions were exceptional but nothing could outshine the helpful and friendly staff. We were delayed in our arrival. That often creates scheduling issues but the staff managed everything with courtesy and a smile. I can’t wait to come back and enjoy this incredible facility.
Fast greens
I enjoyed the layout of this course. Pretty darn challenging and very scenic. The greens are very fast and undulating. I consider myself a very good putter, but 3 putted 5 greens! I can't wait to go back.
OK
Everyone very friendly, very good pace of play. Greens fast but conditions average.
Expected a bit more for the && since we were there on a ‘hot deal.’
