Resorts at McCormick Ranch Scottsdale

Our experience on Friday was “less than par’ for a number of reasons.

We were unable to finish our round due to the slow play of the foursome two groups ahead of us. I am almost positive they were playing for the “Green Jacket” or at least they thought they were, Hand bumping, removing and replacing the flag multiple times. Sadly there were three groups behind us that wouldn’t finish their rounds either. Not sure where the course marshal/marshals were but we did not see one our entire round.

This is not the worst thing that happened. On the 11 the 11th. hole one of the fellows we were paired with hit a goose in the chest/neck off the tee box.

The goose fluttered about unable to raise its head.

The fellow called the proshop and advised as to what had happened. Their response, a negligent one I might add was, “this happens all the time and someone will eat well tonight”. I am not sure the onerous that followed us appreciated seeing a suffering or possibly dead goose between the white and brown tee boxes. Not a class act.

8:24 t time, very slow. Over 4 1/2 hours. All the fairways were very wet from watering, several plugged balls, almost all green side bunkers had water in them from watering. Greens were fast so that was nice. Would have been more enjoyable if it wasn’t so darn slow. Unusual for that early in the morning.

The restaurant and staff. Top notch. That was the highlight of the day. Breakfast and. Lunch.

Average course with average conditions. Worst paved cart paths I have ever seen

Longest round I have played in 5 trips to Phoenix. Played the course because it was close to hotel.

There are better tracks and better experiences.

The new greens were understandably firm and fast, but I was surprised by how poor the rest of the course has become. Fairways were beat up and probably deserved “ground under repair” flags throughout. Puddles of water in bunkers and other areas in the late afternoon don’t make sense to me given the lack of rain water. The course is a patchwork of sand, mud, hard pan, etc. on greens and fairways. This course used to be a joy to play and had decent eye appeal, but it’s now a bad muni-looking course. Despite the relative lower rate compared to other “championship” courses, I won’t be coming back unless changes are made. Regarding beverage service, all the “cart girls” were unfriendly and staring at their phones. In the first “drive by” instance, the cart girl drove right by us and didn’t even acknowledge us…I swear they are trying to make as little money as possible! If you enjoy great conditions, friendly people, and an acceptable pace of play - all of which you should expect this time of year in Scottsdale - play elsewhere.

Course conditions were a bit rough tea boxes would beat up and fairies lotta dead spots

Pace of play was terrible. Got behind a group of 6 and Marshall had to break it up through hole 7. At the turn ran into a foursome with two other watching. Was not enjoyable. Better courses for the price.

This golf course is overpriced tee box is very bad

way too expensive and the conditions go the fairways was marginal at best.

Golf in the Phoenix-area is way over-priced.

Beautiful course and fairways, greens are not for the faint of heart!
