new bunkers Photo submitted by JasonDeeganGA on 11/20/2019
A fun ride
The best way to experience Kierland is to ride one of their alternative vehicles. I spent nine holes on the Ellwee, a four-wheel ATV, and nine holes on the GolfBoard, which I've ridden in the past. The Ellwee is low to the ground and easy to master. The GolfBoard can be a little trickier for those who don't have great balance.
Riding one of these vehicles spices up what is a very straight-forward round of golf. Kierland is perfect for snowbirds who haven't played much. It's player-friendly and relatively wide open. There's just enough sand to keep things interesting without being too penal. I played poorly and still shot a decent score. That's Kierland for you.
A summer bunker renovation has the place looking good.
Surprisingly good
Played here because we had a day off from other rounds and we’re staying at the resort. These two courses were really good and in amazing shape for August. Mesquite is more narrow and you really need to place your shots. Ironwood is much wider but smart tree placement in the fairway makes you have to think about shot placement. Only knock was the bunkers were rock hard, but other than that no complaints
Little less dersert + little more grass = Great golf
The three nines at Kierland have more grass than many of their local counterparts, making them great courses for visiting midwesterners like me. Greens were smooth and pretty quick - look at your putts from every angle to see the breaks. Greens were firm but balls did check up. Many tee box options to match your game.
Off course staff was great - lunch in the grill even included free desert - tough to beat that!
Kierland I the hole so Ironwood/Acacia
Lots of room off the tee on either nine. Trouble begins on lightly bunkered huge greens. These have subtle breaks not always easy to read & you can be on the green & a long, long way from the hole so getting the speed right is the key to scoring here. #9 on the Acacia course is a tough walk, but this is a course I could recommend to all types of golfers.
Over Priced. Over Rated. Over Hyped.
Kierland has a severe case of arrogance. The staff are some of the worst I have ever experienced for their poor attitude and sense of entitlement. The course itself is boring, generic and offers nothing special. It is promoted as one of the best in Phoenix. NOT. It is one of the most expensive average courses. Unless you are out of options there is so much better golf. Kierland is a joke from top to bottom.
Roomy Fairways
If you are looking to play a course that is a litttle more forgiving from the tee then Kierland is a good choice. The greens were in nice shape and rolled well, we found it a fun track to play that was not as challenging as some in the area. Nice pro shop, and practice area as well
Top 5
This is one of the best around in my opinion. I'm a huge fan of rolling/slope type courses as opposed to the typical desert course you find 15 mins north of Kierland. Lush open fairways and tricky short game surrounding the greens.
You gotta play here if you have the chance.
ZERO COMPLAINTS !
Great staff, course was very fun, Greens were perfect. This is how I get spoiled. Fairways were cut a little too short for me. was hoping drives would roll to the first cut. Over all a 10
Great resort course
Played this course for the first time. Well manicured and nice true greens. Forgiving layout but lots of challenges near the greens.
Beautiful Coarse!!
Course was in Fantastic shape!! Great layout and Fantastic Staff!! This is a MUST PLAY!!!
Good but not great.
Overall nice condition check in and pace was good. Not overly scenic runs through condos, hotels and business park. Fairways are mostly wide with big greens only a couple of tight driving holes. When we finished no one at cart return area so had to lug clubs to far end of parking lot which was a hike. Got good deal on golf now so overall nice day. Had I paid the 169 price would have been very disappointed. At that price much better options out there.
Green we're in great shape
The fairways and green were great
Liked the course layout
Great condition
Staff was great. From check-in to bartenders to drink cart ladies. Top notch.
Great Experience
Although this tee time was a little later than we would have liked, given the heat wave, we could not pass up this course at such a great deal.
Staff was tremendous and pace of play was under 4 hours.
Course was a little fuzzy from overseeding, but other than that - outstanding.
Awesome experience!!!
What a great course/facility!!! Friendly staff!!!
Decent desert resort golf
Kierland is a classic resort course. Very well maintained and with all the amenities you'd expect, but the track is fairly easy (save for a couple of the finishing holes) and not overly memorable. A good course if you are working on or want to feel good about your game, as most holes feature gentle rolling swales that tend to funnel the ball towards the fairway. Staff was friendly but starter was clueless; switched up bags and pairings three times and then sent us off 10 minutes late.
Great Resort Golf
Friendly staffs, great amenities. All things were first class.
Not worth the hype
This is a good course, but not worth the hype of being one of the best in Scottsdale. Bag boys were rude, but the course Marshal was great. Pro Shop staff was very professional.
Best course In Phoenix
The course was in immaculate shape for being in the summer. Service if the pros hope and staff were top notch. This is going to be a course I throw in my repitore.
