Top notch desert golf
Great course. Great facilities. We will always come play either course on every trip to Phoenix.
Staff
Course conditions would be the highlight while check in staff and starter were the weak links to overall experience. Check in was whatever and what you might expect at a municipal course and the starter shouldn't be in contact with people - no greeting, no hows your day, maximum of 8 words when asked if silver/gold was the combo tees, he replied with "i dont know, I just handed you the scorecard" not what was expected, but chalk it up as a cranky guy who doesn't like to talk to people.
Excellent choice!
Whirlwind was a fantastic course in immaculate condition! Beautiful! Fairly long, though, fyi.
Wonderful
My first course in AZ, wonderful course. Green were good, fairway in close to perfect conditions. Beautiful views all around.
I would play that course again.
Awesome Course, Great Shape
One of my favorites. Staff was awesome and course in great shape.
The waffle fry round
Won a free 4ball from Whirlwinds IG contest a few months back and was able to get the boys out for a round this past Sunday! Course did not disappoint as always. Immaculate shape. Only concern was we only saw the Bev cart twice during the round. We would have spent a lot more money if it came around more often. But the course was spectacular and had a great time.
This course NEVER disappoints
I come out to Phoenix from the northeast to play golf a few times per winter and spring. I always look to play this course. So much fun and so well thought out! This is a winner period. You will pay a premium but it is so worth it!
Could be better
Everything about this course was fantastic. The only issue I had was every staff member other than bag drop gentleman wasn’t friendly at all . For the price you pay you can go to Ak -chin 15 minutes away and have excellent service .
Best Facility in Chandler
There are some solid options for golf in Chandler, AZ, especially in the mid-tier range. Lone Tree is not bad. Ocotillo is always good, if you can handle water on almost every hole. And, I’ll never shut up about Bear Creek being the best value in the east valley. The best Course, however, is Whirlwind. We played the Cattail and it was immaculate. We went off the silvers (just over 6100yds), so it can be very playable, or you can back it way up to over 7k, if you're a glutton for punishment. So many cool looking shots and fun risk-reward decisions to be made. It’s kind of in the middle of nowhere, no houses or anything like that. It’s a dessert course, but pretty forgiving off the tee. They know how good they are, so the price can creep up there, but we grabbed an early afternoon time at a discount and easily got it in (4.5 hours). Whirlwind is at the top of the mid-tier courses and it’s probably top 5 courses in the Phoenix area for the price.
Fantastic course for the wet conditions
Played this course for the first time. Was looking for a course that would play well and be in good condition a day after all the rain the region had seen over the past week. This course delivered, fairways like a carpet and the course was not on cart path only which surprised us. Will definitely be back to this course. Great layout, great conditions, and super friendly staff with great amenities
