Another great day on a Troon course
Course was in excellent shape for this time of the year and the greens ran true. We had the course to ourselves and finish just over 3 hours!
Worth the drive
Course was in great shape for the summer conditions. Greens were soft but rolled true.
Whirlwind Round
It was a great round and the course was in great condition.
Interesting day
Course conditions were excellent. Benefit to being on the rez and having unlimited water. Greens perfect. Fast. Smooth. Held pretty well also. Starter was unfriendly which was a surprise but staff overall was solid. Cart lady every 6 holes, basically perfect.
Pace of play was miserable.
But here’s the asterisk.
There was a junior girls tournament on the course, about 7-8 groups. By the 5th hole we caught up. No where to go. Front nine was just over 2 hours. Back nine was just over three.
I get it, it’s kids and i encourage that. Ya played JR golf my whole life, but at the end of the day, you are still responsible for the pace of play on the course. It was a rare 95 degree day, otherwise i would have been furious.
Nobody really acknowledged the problem, and i went i to the clubhouse to complain, but it seems that the only person was one of the bag guys, and there was no chance he was the one making the decisions.
For review sake, great golf conditions
Cattail at Whirlwind
It was a great day at the course. The course was in good condition. The greens were still recovering from being punched but were almost back to normal so they were okay. The fairways were in great condition. We had a great day. Definitely will be back to play again.
Punched & Rough
Love this place. Always have and always will love W2 but…..
This time around the greens were punched seems like 14+ days ago. Unfortunately, the greens were bumpy & rough. One of the few times the greens were in bad shape.. almost automatic 2 putt territory (greens lacked water to fully recover after that many days punched?). Fairways a bit dry for obvious reasons, water shortages + 115 F days = no bueno fairways & greens.
This said I wish I would of spent my 70 bucks at Troon North which is in pristine condition right now!!
Not impressed
We played your course just 3-weeks ago and it was spectacular from tee to greens so when my wife saw Cattail was opening we jumped on the chance
Received an email (thank you by the way) that it wasn’t quite ready and you honored our same time to play Devils Claw
Just playing it 3-weeks ago we were fine, apparently you had mowed Devils Claw down to start working on it and it was not playable fairways were horrendous, tee boxes average green were good
Needless to say worth half what we paid 3-weeks ago very frustrating
Great Course
I always enjoy this complex. Devil's Claw is my preferred out of the 2 courses. Every amenity from carts, practice area, to the locker room is top notch. Couple of fairway's had areas of burnout, but overall not a factor. Only beef would be cost at this time of year. Although I rave about everything, and I do, when the course is wide open and it's 100 plus degrees, should be $75 and up in late June. $40-$50 is more than appropriate for this area of the valley. This isn't just a Whirlwind beef , but everywhere. Locals seem to get the raw end of the financial stick. Still love this place though.
Some areas on the fairways where the grass is burnt out from the heat and you are hitting off dirt/ patchy grass. Greens are in good shape overall.
1st Time’s a Charm…
This was my 3rd time playing this course and all three times the course has been in great shape. Whether it’s Winter, Spring, or 110-degree weather, they keep looking and playing great.
Greens played like trenches
Course had been punched a couple of weeks ago, according to the starter but the greens were really bad. Felt like I was playing on cobblestones. Fairways looked like they were punches yesterday. Several areas u set repair. I wished I would have known prior to purchasing.
