Great Course

Love this course always a fun day there. Wish occasionally that they had a cart girl or guy come around and offer drinks.

Great course

I always love playing this course. It's always easy to get on and the workers are nice and laid back. Their food is the best in town!

A Fun Course Needing Green Work and Sand in the Sand Traps

The course is mainly in pretty good shape, but some of the greens have some rough, bumpy areas that make a reliable and repeatable putt impossible. The main drawback to this course, as always from what I've heard from everyone who plays here, are the traps, which really, really need sand, real sand, maybe not washed white sand, but not the red, lava rock gravel that road workers put on the road during snowy and icy conditions. Besides making a classic sand shot impossible, the rough lava rock really scrapes up sand wedges and any other club one might use from a trap far from a green.

The course is in beautiful shape, the fairways the greens and the tee boxes were clean and playable.

The greens were a little fast in the morning on the front nine. Pace of play was great, it was a beautiful day first spring weather in the 70s.

The restaurant offered a variety of options that all looked delicious. We chose the BLT with tots and a huge chef’s salad. A family favorite is the freshly made pizza that you can eat there or take and bake.

The staff in the pro shop and the restaurant are always friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend

Unbelievable vistas

Winter conditions resulted in several greens being frozen which required adjusting my ball flight and landing spots. The course layout makes for fun management decisions throughout the round. The tee boxes have been moved due to winter maintenance (I assume) of normal tee box positions.

Overall, it’s a fun and challenging course especially with the winter conditions.

Typical winter golf at Shastina.

Typical for this time of year. Frozen solid until about 12 or 1230. Can use the frozen ponds in front of the greens on 10 and 9 to get home in 2 bounce your ball right a crossed the pond. But it was a beautiful day and fun golf. You have to be a little creative with your shots this time of year.
