Course Okay, Staff Inexcusable
I called ahead of time for the driving range to make sure I would still be able to get a bucket. I was told as long as I showed up before a certain time I would get a bucket. I showed up 15 minutes before the time given and was denied a bucket. 20 minutes later a couple walked up with the bucket and I asked them if they had gotten it from the clubhouse to which they said yes. I walked back into the clubhouse to find out why I was denied a bucket I was told "ask my boss" to which the boss had no response other than "oh well...". The golf course is fine, crowded but fine, but this is an experience that I won't forget soon
Nice place to play
The course overall is in good shape except for one thing.
The tee boxes are terrible for the most part, Dirt and large weeds. They need to be totally rebuilt. Some areas are very wet not sure why.
Really.....?
As I was stuck in traffic, I called the pro shop to ask them to set my tee time back & they accommodated. Turned out, I got there on time.
They wanted $24 dollars for a cart. I've paid less for a round at Tecolote Canyon. Not only did it run poorly, pop up ads were a constant bother when trying to retrieve yardage info. Seriously, why pay that much for a cart when you're inundated with ads? It should've been free.
Then the $9 hot dog I purchase had a bun so stiff, that it could sand a surfboard. That, along with dance music pumping from the bar/restaurant that could be heard to both the 1st & 10th tee boxes, just rounded out a lousy experience. Luckily, I was in a fun foursome, so the day wasn't wasted.
All tolled, it was an experience I plan on telling other golfers to stay away from. The gouge for the cart alone puts your business in the same category as somebody overcharging for a generator during a hurricane. Plus, warming your hot dogs in the microwave, then charging $9 is another glaring point. Isn't this a customer reliant business? Too bad you just lost one....and perhaps more.
Good luck in the future.
What happened to groundskeeping?
Course was in worse shape I've ever seen. Greens had lots of divots and tee boxes are overgrown/weeds, etc. I was shocked.
Great challenging layout, fairways and greens in good condition
Course was fun and challenging. Expect a variety of holes, doglegs, straight, U-shaped, narrow and wide. Key here is to stay in the fairways, as the rough is thick and grabs clubs. Conditions were damp so difficult to spin and compress the ball, but the greens were very receptive if you want to shoot at the flag, many pins were in some tough locations - definitely bring some high bounce wedges. Greens were fast and reading breaks were challenging. Staff is very accommodating and worked me in after I called in for a late arrival due to standstill traffic. Great atmosphere around the clubhouse, music was playing on loudspeakers and was nice to have while practicing at the range and chipping/putting area that located right by it. Carts are new and have soft leather with GPS. Awesome value for the fee, and because jt was such a great experience, I played another round the next day. Nothing to change. Keep up the great work St. Mark’s!
Wonderful course and we’ll kept greens!
BE SURE TO GOOGLE THE ADDRESS!!!
Golf Now offers a link with directions but their link put me 7 miles away!!! I almost missed my tee time.
Other than that, fantastic place to play with challenges and beautiful scenery, trees and landscaping that will have me coming back again.
If you’re in the area you can’t miss out on Saint Marks Executive Golf Course. EXCELLENT short game course for the money. Could be my favorite home spot right now.
It’s ok
Everyone I encountered was very friendly, great staff. Where do I start. The minute we stepped on the first tee box I said “.this isn’t good” Almost every tee box was in need of a complete re build, a lot of bare spots and dirt. The members we played with were great company. The rough was something you didn’t want to be in. Although I think that’s how Bermuda grass is. I had not seen so many wet spots on almost every hole, aren’t we in a drought here in California. Now to the greens. They were fairly quick with breaks that one did not see at all. The greens looked very bad as it appeared that the golfers who play there don’t know what fixing ball marks is all about. Our 9 hole muni in Tahoe has way better greens than St Mark. Needless to say they won’t be seeing us ever again.
Price Mismatch!
The app advertises 18 holes but you’re only paying for and playing just 9 holes, and you can’t even change it at the clubhouse. Probably not worth using this app for this particular course.
A Favorite But….
Our favorite short course but sadly it’s not getting the maintenance attention it deserves. It’s beyond starting to get rundown. They need to get the fungus off the greens. It was once ranked #22 in Golf Advisor’s Top 100 Short Courses. We’ll still go back but it needs something more than a good watering.
Great
The staff is always very friendly. We golf there often as we love the layout and the conditions.
Poor greens
I’ve played here for years and this was the first time the greens on at least 4 holes were in bad shape. The 18th hole was in the worst condition
Nice par 3
I’ve played this course many times
It consistent in value , conditions
Great iron practice course
