Great layout and staff
I live in the gold country and the level of service exceeds any of the other golf courses in the area. Course and greens were in excellent shape.
Course format
Because of the time of year they are starting everyone at the same time at different hole locations (tourney style). Course and greens were in great condition where as some of the tee boxes were a little rough. Overall a great course, can’t wait to go back in the spring when it’s warmer!
Stay away not worth the price
Terrible staff from the pro shop to the Marshals, even the bartender was uninterested in customer service. Course condition is going downhill fast. Greens were still growing back from being punched about a month ago, and there was still a fair amount of sand on the surface. Proshop threatened to ban my 4 some and was very rude because our cart had a low battery and they sent a message for us to drive it back to the shop. Could have easily been resolved by sending out a replacement to swap out while we finished our round. Will not be back not worth the $100 tee time.
1/2” of sand on greens
Greens were heavy sanded no notice of sanding greens when I made reservations
Wonderful and fun course
Played on the Monday morning. Pace was good (<4hr) even with a 4-some in front of us. Some holes are wide to fly nice drives and some holes are tight to challenge course management. Greens are in good condition but they are slow for me (runs about 8/9 I think) with little breaks.
I played the blue and the par 3/4/5 are all in good variety of lengths to utilize different clubs for me.
Will come back to play this great course again. Only small complaints are that tee-boxes are over-watered in the morning. I feel my shoes actually sunk into the tee-bod surface, and almost slipped on another.
I'd come back
I enjoyed playing the course. The greens were aerated, so I will be back when not. Nice layout.
wow
the course was overall in good shape. all bad areas are marked. the staff is professional and courteous. only 2nd time I've played here, but will be back soon
Great course but always something ironic happens
I actually came up this time to get away from all the smoke that had been coming down from oregon and washington into the bay area and as god would have it at the 10th hole there was a fire no more then 30' from the fairway as we tee'd off.
Kudo's to the Fire department and air support as they quickly hadf it under control and was the first time I ever putted out for a par with a helicoptor circling 40-50 ' above us.
All in all the course is a fun course kept in pretty good condition, they do have it switched around starting on the 10Th hole now as 1st hole and it is no longer called Saddlecreek but instead Copper Valley but other then that pretty much the same course.
Round plays about 4-41/2 hrs which I like, greend roll ok(not real fast)fairways in good mostly green condition and tee boxes pretty well kept. But again remember we are still dominated by the whole covid thing so seed to replace divots and fix tee boxes is for the most part absent and here they strictly adhere to covid policy(even removing the faucets and all from the bathrooms on the course)
A little strange but ok,there were disinfectant wipes I believe outside. If it wasn't such a drive I would play it more frequently but it isn't cheap.
This is a GREAT course. If you visit this area of CA you need to play this course. I can't wait to get back!!!
Very nice and fair course
Played a foursome this morning and the course ran a 8:00 am shotgun start, that made pace of play very quick. We finished in just under four hours. Course played very well. Very fair course, rewards for good shots and penalties for bad ones. The fairways were a bit over saturated but other than that course was a pleasure. Staff was very friendly and nice.
Saddle or Copper?
Overall the course was fine, the layout is fantastic, very interesting and challenging (I played the blue tees). The greens rolled smooth, though they were slower than I remember when it was Saddle Creek. Fairways were fine, but do have some dead spots in areas, either not getting water in those places or burned them earlier, not a big deal however. Overall, the course is still very playable and a lot of fun!
Always delivers an experience
I play the Club at Copper valley every summer, some people can't handle the heat so it makes for a 3.5 hour afternoon round.
There is a slight fungus or growth in most of the greens but not enough to cause bumpiness. They also put. lot of water on the course overnight so you get a few soggy places in the fairway with an occasional plugged drive. Apart from that perfect as always..
Great place to play
What an awesome course. We went out and were paired with two members(Dave and Mike). They were outstanding playing partners and ambassadors of the club. The course was outstanding and except for a couple spots it was over watered was in great condition. Greens were firm and interesting resulting in challenging play. Pace was outstanding and Copper Valley is now on my list of best places in the Valley.
