quality mountain golf experience
Like any mountain course the weather can be a factor. This particular day the weather was an outstanding fall 75 degrees with a slight breezes. There are seveval elevated tees which provides wonderful vistas and gives the course a unique advantage over most others. The fairways were well maintained, but the greens were like concretre and would not hold anything, so adjustments were necessary to have a scorers chance. Over all the experience was outstanding. My only complaint is the cart staff were not the most welcoming or even friendly.
4.1799 stars
Very very nice. Greens may be sandy but course is beautiful and memorable.
about a 4.4 star course
hole 16 was goofy
they should provide bottled water
one player in our foursome died of altitude sickness on the 15 th hole
putting is very tough on these sanded greens!
great views!!!
A Little Disappointed
I have played this course several times, I love the beauty and the challenge. However, I feel it is overpriced for what you get. The golf carts are old and not in the greatest shape. The bunkers were inconsistent. The greens had just been top-dressed, so they were bumpy but fast. Driving range was extremely wet!! Overall, I would rate the conditions as fair because I expect more for this price point. There was trash on the counter in the pro shop and the guy next to me paid $100 less than I did. I know there are various discounts but the club should work with people that come on a consistent basis and offer some discount.
Wonderful course
Haven't played at Keystone Ranch for several years so was very impressed with the entire experience
Beautiful views
This is one of my favorite courses to play. I love the elevated tee boxes and the beautiful view of the mountains. The staff and other players are very warm and welcoming. It's a great and fun experience.
Unexpexted Good Course
I was not expecting as good of golf course as it turned out to be! I think there is one hole I didn't like, all the others were great. The course has a little of everything.
great scenery
looks wide open with no problems until you tee off. plenty of trouble to find on most holes. beautiful area, great views .
They allow 5 and 6 somes on Sat??
We started as a foursome, my wife and I, and another pair added to make us a foursome. Then, after the front nine, we noticed the group ahead of us had 3 carts, and 5 players. The pair which was added to our group decided to drive around them. This did not work so well, as they ran into another 5 some, so they just played as a twosome, adding another group in front of us. We stopped the on course attendant, who told us the 5-somes, 6-somes were not a problem, that the hold up was a group in front of them. Unbelievable at an expensive course. ($150+/person). The on-course attendant was argumentative and defensive, as he was aware of the situation and did nothing about it. By the time we were done, the groups behind us had combined to an 8-some. Will never go back.
Great course, slow pace
This course is well worth the value. Magnificent vistas and well manicured greens high light this course. Unfortunately, the course marshals failed to keep the pace of play going in a reasonable manner. Logjams quickly developed, and the marshals seemed oblivious to this fact. This is not what I would expect of a top rated course. Six hours is too long on any course.
Mountains, lakes and beautiful greens!
This is absolutely the most gorgeous golf course in Colorado! It's challenging and fun. Luv it here!
Beautiful course affects game
Not being very good golfers had no effect on us enjoying our round of golf. The beauty of the course and the good fortune of pairing up with a friendly couple from Ft Collins CO. made for a fantastic experience. The staff could not have been any better.
Exceeded Expectations!!
My son in law and I played with a great golf now rate of $58. The course was in nice shape and really couldn't ask for more. The views are spectacular and the various holes use the natural terrain to increase the challenge and enjoyment. The greens are VERY hard and fast. Bouncing onto the green is about your only hope if you don't have back spin in your bag of tricks! So much fun we played another 16 rounds prior to dark, for $30 replay fee.
Mitch, Tom and all the staff were nice and helpful. First time players can get a very helpful color flip book describing each hole in detail with distances. A life saver for blind shots. Some generous par fives and hard par fours. All in all, a fair and challenging course. Good luck on 6. It's a doozy!
Ok for the price
Slow play, signage to get to the course hard to follow, hard to know distance to carry some of the hazards
Great course with variety and beauty
I've played the Keystone Ranch course many times and always enjoy the challenge.
The first 2 holes are tree lined and important to stay on the fairways. The 3rd hole can be a very challenging par 4 or a birdie op if you can fly the big trap inside the dogleg.
The 5th hole is a shallow green backed by the old ranch buildings. Try to hit a high shot to hold this green. The back nine seems to play slightly easier but still has teeth. The greens can be tough to read but generally break toward the meadow that splits the course.
The staff is very player friendly and helpful.
Everything was excellent
The course is great, great service from the staff.
Always beautiful and exciting
If you like elevation changes and beautiful scenery you can't beat The River Course at Keystone Resort.
The folks here are friendly and helpful. I've played the course several times. Often with visitors that are wow-ed by the experience.
The front nine has some tough holes especially the three par 3s. The back nine has several exciting elevated tee shots. My favorite is the 496 yd (blue tee) par 4 16th hole. A long drive with a draw will carry through the fairway and leave you with a steep downhill lie. A smarter but less exciting play is to lay up on the final plateau for a long drop shot to the green.
Bring your camera. This course is a beauty.
Exciting and beautiful course
Our annual Colorado Golf Binge group of 2 foursomes just played The River Course at Keystone Resort for the 5th consecutive year. Our group is composed of guys from TX, IL, MN and CO and they always love the thrill of hitting from highly elevated tees while enjoying great scenery and cool, dry air. I'm sure the group's vote will be to return in 2015.
One tip...On the par 5 fifth and par 4 17th holes be sure you don't overshoot those greens. The comeback shots are too tough.
A Great Golf Course in the High Country
We always try to play at the Ranch course at least one time when we're in Summit County. The course is very well maintained (especially when you consider the short growing season) and the staff is generally good. The only complaint I have is that the starter staff seemed to be a bit short-handed and we waited a bit past an obvious earlier available start time until he could get around to pairing us up on our regular start time. Also, when the starter asks if we've played here before, it seems to make no difference in the 3 - 4 minute speel he gives you about how to manage the course (cart rules, staying out of the environmental areas, etc.) Small complaint but I think they should consider whether a person has played there before.
Down Hill from There
Course was in good shape after a cold winter. The course offers some dramatic views. The first hole has an alevation drop of 150'. It is downhill from there. Very up and down and lots of photo ops.The greens were firm and putted really well. The practice putting green is a little severe. If you can get comfortable on it the rest are a breeze.
