Bring Your Balls

This was our second time playing The Dunes. Although a bit shorter than most regulation courses the layout and tight fairways make this course something of a challenge. There is *lots* of water. An extra sleeve, or two, of balls might not be a bad idea.

Although a few holes on the back 9 are still recovering from hurricane Ian the majority of the course is in very good condition and all of the greens offer near perfect putting surfaces.

Every member of the staff was helpful and friendly. Highly recommend a round here if you are in the area.

Bad back nine

I understand all the renovations that they have done since the hurricane, but the back nine personally I would just close it off until you can bring it back because it is a complete mess. The greens are OK but no fairways to really hit out of. and to play cartpath only on many of the holes on that when it wasn’t even wet, it’s very dried out burnt. I’m glad I’m not a member there…it was one of my favorites..

Mehh

Everything was ok on the front but the back was in very poor condition. No one on the course serving water and it was 96 F. Sanibel is nice but I would not make a special effort to play here. Overrated.

Beautiful Course

Although somewhat on the short side all of the water hazards at The Dunes add plenty of defense for the course. There were a few areas in some of the fairways where the grass hasn't fully grown back in from recent storms but for the most part the fairways were very nice and the greens are all spectacular. They don't roll as fast as they look but the green surfaces are near perfect.

The staff was very friendly and the course is beautiful! I consider it a must play for the area.

Course was in very good shape, a lot of water surrounding each hole.

The course was in very good shape, considering we have not had much rain until recently. Greens were in great shape. Fairways were in great shape. There is always tl areas that are under construction and or repair. On any course. . Today found a lot of rain, hooray for Florida., that had landed early in the morning, so there were many holes that were cartpath only. You must be very accurate on each hole. There is a lot of water left and right. Course is very challenging but a fantastic layout. Look forward to playing again. Phil the starter and the cart barn person was fantastic, and had a lot of great insights to the course.

enjoyable day of golf on Sanibel Island

I played here with a friend who lived off the Island while vacationing on Sanibel Island. The greens were in great shape as they have all been rebuilt following hurricane Ian in 2022. Not being familiar with the layout, the GPS on the carts were invaluable and quite useful.

There's water on pretty much every hole so accuracy off the tee is important.

The staff was welcoming and professional.

Course was in great shape

Would love to play again had a great time playing this course. People were friendly and helpful. The only thing I didn’t get was carts had to be in by 7 pm and it is light till 8 pm. We got our round done in about 3 hours 40 minutes. Looking forward to next time I get the opportunity to play this course.

Great vacation course

Played this course during spring break. Wife and kids at the beach and the men played a round. Course was in great shape. Lots of water hazards. Lost more balls than normal. Can’t wait to comeback and play again.

The Dunes on Sanibel

Beautiful course! If you don’t like water, this one isn’t for you. The front 9 was absolutely gorgeous. The back 9 still needs some work with the fairways but after suffering through three hurricanes in the last five years it’s understandable.

The round is pricey and I’m not quite sure it’s worth $189 but it is winter and it’s Florida. Fortunately, I was able to find a great rate on Golf Now.

Overall I would recommend this course. It’s not long but it’s challenging.

Conditions amazing

1st time playing here. A little pricey and expected some issues with conditions due to hurricane recovery but……other than a couple of holes on the back nine that were cart path only allowing grass to fully grow in, the quality of the grass was amazing every where (greens, fairways, rough and and tee boxes) The cart path holes as well other than a few well marked GURs.

Don’t be fooled by the short yardages on the scorecard and think you’re ready for the tips. Tell the started your handicap and kind of pled you are and he’ll set you up…..or get humbled. As a couple of trips a year guy to the area, this will be on our list next year for sure.
