Incredibly disappointing
A friend of mine flew in from Houston to play several rounds of golf. I chose The Lakemont course because the Stone Mountain courses were typically in good shape - especially for the green fees you pay. Most of the fairways were in very poor shape and most of the greens were not puttable!! And they punched them over a month ago and we have had plenty of rain! Terrible conditions to add to a 5+ hour round of golf!! Incredibly disappointing!! Won’t be coming back anytime soon!
Unplayable conditions
I played about 80 rounds a year. I was in Atlanta for the masters, and I always wanted to play this course because of its architect. I was at the masters for my birthday a gift from my son and we played the Stone Mountain. I should’ve read better through the reviews. This course was bought out last year and it is in terrible shape. I’m not nit picking the fairways and tees terrible. The greens had patches of sand on them where they were repairing I spoke to the Director of Golf , and he was a very nice man and explained they were going through some changes.
Overwhelmingly Poor!!
I had heard so many good things about the Stone Mountain courses, I booked a round for the Lakemont Course to play when a buddy flew in from Houston. The fairways were in terrible condition! Most of the greens were not even puttable! It took well over 5 hours to play in those poor conditions!! And it cost over $75 for that forgettable round of golf!! Will not be playing it again until significant improvements are made to the quality of the course and pace of play!
Not bad
Had high hopes but overall it was pretty average. Addressing the rough spots on the fairways and greens would go a long way to making this love up to the pictures.
Nearing perfection
Terrific landscape architecture, fairway grass emerging and softening, greens large and tough to read but in good shape.
Friendly staff and very helpful
The course layout is great. The staffs were amazing.. sadly just the cost condition needs LTC, some tee area really rough... Green is a bit bumpy and different speeds... Overall. Could be better... I wouldn't rush back. Especially you have to pay extra $20 for get in the mountains area before the course
Beautiful land. Poorly managed golf course
I’m not one to leave bad reviews, but I just had to warn fellow golfers about this place. Seems like an extremely “touristy” golf course. Way too many people playing so pace was ridiculous. They didn’t even have any golf carts available for a long time so we had to wait. Extremely overpriced. Should honestly cost about $40 max on a weekend with how poor of shape it’s in. It has so much potential because it’s on a pretty lake and winds through beautiful hilly land. I hope somebody comes along and takes better management over the golf courses.
Good layout. Overpriced for the condition of the couse
Poor course quality
Start off by saying the course has an amazing setup and should be a great experience due to the views and the overall layout. Unfortunately, they stack tee times within 10-15 minutes and due to timing the 18 holes took about 5.5 hours. The greens are not in great shape (they did put out sand) but don’t charge $80+ for a course where conditions are more like a $30 course. It’s tough waiting 10-15 minutes before you can tee off on each hole due to cramped tee times. Overall, need to space out tee times and decrease price.
Very friendly staff. Hard to justify $80 for the conditions though.
Good course, horrible condition for price
Played this course 2 weeks ago, called ahead to make sure greens would be good for close to 100 dollars. Having played here before I was extremely disapointed in the conditions. The greens were not in good condition at all and at times it seemed it had a sand trap in the middle of the greens. Will not be coming back at this price point, would be paid 35
