Don't Play Here
This is a way overpriced course now. DOn't waste your money here.
Way Too Much
Don't play here. Their charging more than double what it's worth.
Ripoff
Don't play this place. It's wayyyyyyyy over priced.
Do not pay $100+ Green Fees For This Course
I've been playing at Stone Mountain for many years. It used to be a decent value to play there. But now they have raised their green fees into the complete ripoff range. Especially for Stonemont. Many of the greens on the back nine were in poor condition. The sand traps are usually in poor condition. Lakemont is in better condition but the speed of the greens is extremely slow and you need pull out a 5 iron for any 30+ foot putt. Three years ago they were charging less than half this price to play here. It's a ripoff now. Don't play golf here..
HORRIBLE course conditions and no warning
When you pay close to $100 for a round of golf you expect the course to be in good condition. At least half if not more of these cranes were completely torn up in certain parts and unplayable. Even the greens that were not torn up had weeds growing all over them which made parts incredibly inconsistent. One putt would roll like a 10 or 11 on the stimp, and would then hit a patch of weeds and come to a complete stop. If the course was in good condition the layout would be fine, but I would absolutely not recommend anyone waste their money on this course.
So much potential. Beautiful layout… tee and up to green in great shape. Then there’s the greens… probably the worst greens I’ve ever played. $20 courses have these beat. Booked the other course for tomorrow but I’d like to get my money back.
Great Except for the Greens
Most of the course is in great shape. Tee boxes and fairways naver better. However, the greens were in very bad shape. Looks like they need to be replaced.
Nice course but there's a lot better courses for the money
The first couple holes by the lake are really what you are paying for in my opinion. Beautiful layouts and challenging fairways but that's really it. Once you get to the back 9, it's like any other course around Atlanta. Some if not most of the greens are rough with inconsistent grass textures, weeds, sand, and holes. Some greens are very fast and others are very slow. I know the course uses two different grasses on the greens between the front and back 9 but if I'm paying over $100 to play a course, I expect the greens to be very nice and consistent for the most part and the tee boxes to be in a little better shape. The fairways were in fair condition to note. Overall I MIGHT return to the course in the future but it would have to be for a good reason. Also to note, the fried grouper sandwich in the club house is amazing!
WORSE THAN SOUTHLAND
I purchased this round for my bday with 3 buddies and after playing the Lakemont course, I was really looking forward to it. However, once we actually got there, everything changed. Worse greens I have literally ever played, and I have played Southland Country Club. There were no pretty views other than the parking lot. The entire front 9 is just back and forth holes, all the exact same hole just in to the wind, then with the wind. $80 for a round, and $20 to pay to park should literally be illegal for how AWFUL this golf course was.
Terrible greens and no warning
75% of Stonemonts greens are mud and algae while you pay +$90. The course gave no disclosures nor discounts. Waste of money and time (5 hour rounds guaranteed here)
Stone Mountain Park Courses
Played Lakemont course front nine and Stonemont back nine with a member. Fairways of both tracks are well maintained. Because most Lakemont greens have been replaced over the last several years they’re very nice. But, they roll inconsistent and number 7 suffers from a drainage problem. The recent rains have damaged all the Stonemont bent grass greens. Stonemont course is not worth the money they charge to play it. Stay away from Stonemont. That is unless you’re just looking to enjoy the day practicing.
Good course, horrible pace
Course was in good shape, greens were hairy. Played at 10 am on a Saturday. Took 3.5 hours to play 11 holes and called it quits. There needs to be a marshal of some sorts to not let people search for balls all day
